Why Are Background And Reference Checks On The Rise?

Hiring is becoming more and more sophisticated as executive job seekers become increasingly knowledgeable and savvy. Today there are countless training facilities, print resources and counselors that are conveniently and affordably available to executives that prepare them to have the Right Resume, and make the Right First Impression. To offset the risks of being “sold” or misled, employers are requiring background checks in addition to reference checks as standard procedures in the hiring process. Many employers will not interview an executive job seeker until his or her references have been checked and credentials confirmed. If there is bad news, employers want to know about it before they go too far into the hiring process.
