At major contractors and construction management firms (as owner’s representative) I have led the design and construction of corporate office building, water treatment plant, road, flood control, mission-critical data centers and TI projects as well as multi-site financial retail projects to profitable conclusion for both private and public owners. I have managed projects ranging from $50K to $130 million in size. I have negotiated and managed Design-Build, CM at Risk, LEED, Public-Private-Partnership and regular Design-Bid-Build projects both of commercial building, industrial and heavy civil construction projects.

I am focused on establishing excellent ongoing relationships with both internal and external clients while also maintaining bottom line results. I am experienced in setting project priorities and budgets, estimates and schedules and providing leadership to bring projects to a profitable conclusion. I have assembled and led project teams in remote locations from scratch while providing direction and vision for the team. I have used my MBA to provide increased breadth of managerial expertise and to provide knowledgeable and appropriate financial metrics. I am experienced at managing project teams from the “blue-sky” conceptual phase through design, construction, commissioning, occupancy and ongoing support. This includes setting overall project budgets and schedules, procuring land, designer procurement and management, permitting, bidding to contractors and subcontractors, construction management and managing QA/QC and commissioning and turn-over to the owner.

As CM at Risk, managed the construction of the new $18 million headquarters for the Arizona Dept. of Game & Fish from design development phase through commissioning and occupancy which will be LEED-silver rated. Also as CM at Risk, provided contractor input during the design phase of a $76 million administrative building/ 24x7 dispatch and system-control facility for a large local public utility. On Design-Build contract managed the closeout of a $40 million bus maintenance facility.. Provided schedules and budgets for proposed Charles Schwab campus upgrades.


Charles Schwab & Co., Phoenix, AZ, Nov. 2000-April 2006
Director Design & Construction, Corp Real Estate & Facilities
Managed construction of $17 million document printing facility including the installation and commissioning of complex printing, mailing and paper distribution equipment. Responsible for providing both program and project level leadership to manage tenant improvement projects for approximately 2 million sf of office space. Managed design of $130 million office complex eventually terminated before construction. In addition, developed and presented many programmatic-level estimates and schedules to evaluate various project options being considered by the company. Managed move of approx. 2000 employees from various office location to another in the western US. During the “dot-com bust” closed down four major ongoing projects in Phoenix metro area. Managed construction of Chandler Data center in 2000, and then in 2004/2005, provided budgeting, scheduling and technical expertise in sub-leasing effort of Chandler Data Center. Managed design and construction of multiple Schwab branch office locations throughout the western US.

I have managed a wide variety of projects ranging from 2 large and multiple small data centers(to $70 million); office facilities (to $25 million); office tenant improvements (to $17 million) , multi-site financial projects (to $5 million) and high-security jails (to $20 million); to hospital clinics(to $2 million); environmental remediation (to $2 million); and building seismic upgrade projects (to $6 million) waste-water facilities (to $25 million in size); roads (to $8 million), and public parking structures (to $5 million);. Responsible for insuring that the projects met the client’s goals. Managed design teams, construction management teams, occupancy and inspection teams on single projects and multi-project construction programs. Provided advice, regular updates, reports, cost and schedule projections to clients as projects advanced. Negotiated contracts, changes orders, worked with attorneys to analyze and resolve construction and design disputes. Responsible for ensuring projects were completed on schedule and within budget with desired quality. As senior project manager also developed and presented programmatic CIP level, all-inclusive budgets and schedules to clients during the decision-making phase of projects. In addition provided guidance concerning possible program options, design and contracting strategies to obtain the best outcome of construction programs based on client’s goals.
