I am a Senior Executive experienced in the management of healthcare, ancillary hospital services, construction and foodservice/restaurant businesses. Diversified experience affords me the wide range of knowledge and expertise necessary to efficiently and effectively operate a business.
I have extensive healthcare regional and multi-site location experience in both hospital, managed care and clinic environments as a Sr. VP, Executive Director, Administrator and Regional Director managing up to 200 employees and over $25 million dollars in revenue. I have successfully increased revenues through creative marketing and sales, contract negotiations and decreased operational costs and accounts receivables through cross training of staff, creating and implementing collections/quality assurance processes, audits of benefits packages and working departmental budgets. In all opportunities I have seen successes of up to 98% in increased collections and up to 62% -92% in increased sales and/or patient volume. I have managed HR functions to include employee benefits serving as Administrator IRA accounts, hiring/terminations, performance evaluations, workers comp/disability claims and training programs.
I have successfully led JCAHO, HCFA, NCQA, and OSHA review teams with excellent scores in all areas. I have also written policies and procedures for healthcare businesses and Quality Assurance/Quality Improvement teams.
I have designed standardized tools for clinic site visits, provider and group contracts, clinic operations, algorithms, nursing standards, medication administration and protocols. Additionally I have designed clinic models for primary, psychiatric and physical therapy services. I have functioned as a Case Manager for primary and psychiatric patients interacting with physicians and ancillary providers. I have also developed regional strategic plans for claims reconciliation, contracting and credentialing. I have been responsible for implementing/tracking/reporting outpatient clinical trails.
I have developed marketing plans that included media packages for radio, TV, print and billboard. I produced a “Seniors Program†TV special on FOX 13 that resulted in a 98% increase in patient volume within a targeted market. I have also produced commercials for specialty care services and was a guest on live talk radio and TV noon shows that featured specific clinic services in other market areas that resulted in a 94% increase in patient volume.
In the healthcare construction industry as a Sr. VP of Strategic Planning and Construction/Sr. Project Manager/Regional Director of Construction I have designed and built specialty and primary care “turn key†clinics, hospital outpatient services facilities and hospital additions. I have served as a consultant to hospital and private physician groups for new construction and renovation plans. I designed a “one stop shop†approach to healthcare in the south Florida market in the late 1980’s that afforded the consumer a building that offered primary, specialty, ancillary and pharmacy services. At that time, this was a very new and innovative design that eventually led to the consolidation of services, as we know them today.
I developed regional strategic plans for corporate design/build construction programs to include site selection and staff model clinics of 10,000+ sq. ft. as well as developing construction standards, bid and value-engineering processes. I have designed and prepared construction standards manuals, interior design fast track processes and negotiated all contracts with architects, design/build firms, equipment and sub contractors as well as implemented inventory control processes. I am a “hands on†project manager visiting sites regularly. I have successfully met all project deadlines and in many cases completed the turn- key process prior to project deadlines. I was additionally responsible for all open house activities in the communities and scheduling media coverage and guest speakers for each event.
In the residential construction industry I have acted as a consultant to a private investment group to develop a 736-acre mountain golf course community in the northwestern area of North Carolina. I carried the project through 1st phase engineering and the design of the country club, pro shops, restaurants, equestrian stables, outbuildings and contracting of a golf professional as the sponsor. I negotiated all contracts with water, power, engineering, grading, timber, etc. I was privileged to interact with local politicians and State Senators in the development and marketing of this project. Unfortunately the investor group had a split and this project was not seen to completion.
In the foodservice industry as a Manager/Supervisor/Chef I have increased sales through employee training, preparation/garnishing techniques, creative marketing, menus and sales of catering services and specialty menu items. As an example, I created the “weekend jamboree†and booked all weekend bands/entertainment while offering customers a “family style†dining experience. This increased sales 75%. I had the local newspaper do a feature article for the restaurant and added the restaurant web site link to the Chamber of Commerce for that area. I also created a “special events†menu such as dinner for two on Valentines Day, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, New Year’s Eve, etc. Each event had a different menu and activities. I have been responsible for service of up to 1,000 people on a buffet line and over 200 in a table service house. I have been responsible for all marketing, sales, scheduling, food orders, training and food preparation. I am a trained Chef, Artesian Baker and own a part-time catering business called La Mezalluna since 1984.
I am an ordained minister and currently serving as a Chaplain at a drug/alcohol recovery camp in Trinity, NC where I teach recovery, life skills, ethics and choices and function as a rape/domestic violence counselor in additional to other pastoral duties.
My desire is to find a position that will be able to utilize not only my professional skills but also my skills, talents and desires in serving others.
