EMPLOYMENT HISTORY
HEAVY EQUIPMENT MECHANIC YEARS EMPLOYED (2008-Present)
KBR Inc., Mosul, Iraq
Maintained military and commercial equipment in support of the US Military. Insured quality maintenance through preventive maintenance procedures. Maintained the convoy’s trucks and trailers of the 3500 tractor fleet. Maintained the local tractor and trailer fleet. Maintained the base recovery vehicles. Occasionally maintained base material handling equipment. I fabricated parts and material to insure mission capability saving cost and down time for the customer. My experience with different equipment along with my dedication and hard work led me to a lead mechanic’s position after only 4 months and then to manage the shop for the base with no supervision on base. After proving my knowledge of the equipment and my mechanical abilities and making lead mechanic I continued to maintain the equipment but also handed out the work and trained new mechanics on the equipment. Approximately a month later the theater management asked me to take over the shop. With the new position I worked in the mornings in the office and all afternoons in the shop and back to the office in the evening for end of day reports (twelve hour days). My new duties consisted of HR duties, logistics, quality customer service, HWAP (hazardous waste accumulation point) management, and personnel safety all while keeping the trucks maintained and the area of operation clean. When I arrived the “deadline†row was up to 20 tractors after a couple months I changed the work environment to a team environment of mechanics. The new team of mechanics under my leadership brought the number to zero and the low number was maintained throughout my time on site insuring not to go into mission failure. When I arrived the department had only been on site for 3 months. The shop only consisted of a tent and a tool box. Through networking with the military and base authorities I was able to build a heavy equipment maintenance shop with each mechanic having his own set of tools. Prior to returning to the US I repaired an HVAC system on a recovery tractor that had not worked since it was brought into theater in 2004 by vigorously troubleshooting the system and the tractor, an accomplishment that many shops and mechanics were unable to complete over a coarse of 5 years.
Arrived on site August 2008. Given Lead Mechanic November 2008. Took over shop December 2008.
