I received my GED from Livingston University in 1989. From there I attended Alabama Southern University in Thomasville, Alabama for less than 1 year in the Electronic Technology field of study. In 1991 was certified in general fork-lift operations by the employer, Howard Industries in Laurel Mississippi. In 2001 I was tested and licensed in the professional treatment and prevention of termites and other structural pests by the Mississippi bureau of plant industry. In 2007 I received my training and license in flex-c-ment from the Flex-c-ment training center in Picayune Mississippi. In January of 2009, I completed the online course Business Planning and Management from Trump University.
WORK HISTORY
In 1998-1999, I was employed by Henry’s Marine in Morgan City La. My duties there started out as general deckhand and engineer duties. Namely, cleaning the decks, galley, engine room and engines. I also had to provide general maintenance on the engines and electric pumps as well as make and break tow. Upon my leaving due to lay offs, my duties included care and repair on the engines, and the duty of relief pilot in which I navigated and operated the tow boat.
From 1999-2000, I was employed by Howard Industries in Laurel Mississippi. My duties there started out as press operator and fork lift operator. Namely, I had to use machinery to move rolls of sheeted steel to a press machine I operated for the purpose of the manufacturing of electric transformers. Upon my leaving of the company, I was the lead man over all press area line #3 on the midnight shift and was next in line for a foreman position due to the passing of the foreman test. I quit that employment due to major cut backs on hours able to work.
From 200-2001, I was employed by Burke’s Mechanical in Nehola Mills Alabama. My duties there were to demo out old steel for pipe racks in a paper mill and replace it with new steel. This consisted of cutting steel with torches and arc welding to fabricate structurally sound racks for the chemical pipes. Training was provided for the safety of working around deadly chemicals and acids. I resigned from this job due to my disapproval of the safety measures there just in time due to an accident that claimed several lives 2 weeks after I left.
From 2001-2002, I was employed by All Kill Pest Control in Meridian Ms. My duties there started out as an insulation installer to which I swiftly was chosen for the ‘termite man’ position. The duties of this job are as follows: Asses damage to structures for ; letters of clearance to lawyers, mortgage companies, banks, courts, and real estate companies; new infestations; and clients on annual inspection lists. Part of my duties were to work with the regional EPA director for the proof of correct chemical mixtures and application methods.
2002-2007, I was employed by First Class Construction in Fairhope, Al. My duties there were those of a carpenter and custom framer for custom made homes.
2007, briefly I was the lead carpenter for Gabel Framing in Robertsdale Al. My duties there were to lead the crew to build houses.
2007-2008, I was employed by Kaiser Pools in Silverhill, Al. My duties there were to supervise pool construction, install Flex-c-ment, install decorative concrete, and custom carpentry such as fences, decks, and arbors. I left there as a result of a lay-off.
2009, I was employed by The Andrews Company from Charlotte, North Carolina. My duties there was the site foreman for remodeling store spaces inside of Super Walmart Centers to be for the private use of Woodforest National Bank. My duties pertained to going into the Walmart Super Center and accessing what has to be done to remodel the space, according to the blueprints, finding the best prices from venders in new areas, locating and hiring whatever tradesmen I needed for the particular job, and making sure the job got done according to strict deadlines and quality inspections from a Woodforest Bank corporate inspector. At the same time I had to work directly with various inspectors across the East Coast to insure that all local codes and laws were followed, inspected, and approved.
2009, I am currently self-employed with my licensed company, Carter Construction in Robertsdale Al. Business is real slow in this present economy and an election year is always bad on new construction. I specialize in pool construction, custom carpentry, decorative concrete, and in flex-c-ment. I also subcontract out pool decks, custom waterfalls, pool tile, wooden decks, fences, retaining walls, and much more.
