Senior Project Manager/Estimator - Substations
Independently develop electrical estimates and proposals and perform project management functions for multiple electrical projects. Develop and maintain project schedules utilizing resource constraints and priorities set by NAES PC and client. Manage budget, prepare cost reports, review estimates, and identify and prepare changes in the scope of the project. Considerable interfacing with client required. Support Business Development efforts as required.
Develop electrical estimates and proposals, including takeoffs, unit rates, material and equipment pricing, labor pricing and all estimate components. Prepare and manage substation estimating database. Prepare proposal documents, including pricing, qualification information, technical and commercial clarifications, schedules, and other supporting information as required by the request for proposal. Prepare and present risk reviews for projects.
Perform project management functions for multiple projects. Following project award, negotiates and executes customer contract, plans and executes project, including preparation of detailed project budget and schedule, preparation and execution of execution of subcontracts and purchase orders. Responsible for mobilization of equipment, tools, subcontractors, and personnel required for project execution.
Manages project cost in accordance with applicable company procedures. Prepares project budget and periodic forecasts. Upon identification of potential gross margin underruns or cost overruns, identifies and executes mitigation strategies. Identifies and executes margin improvement strategies.
Manages project schedule to ensure completion within project requirements. Prepares periodic schedule updates, evaluates progress and implements project schedule recovery plans when necessary.
Fundamental technical knowledge of estimating, cost engineering and project management required. Organizational, communication, budget, cost estimating and scheduling skills required. Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet and scheduling software required. Supervisory skills required.
Associate degree in engineering or equivalent technical training knowledge and experience desired. Minimum of ten years work experience in electrical substations, with additional electrical industry and energy facility experience desirable.
