Job Description:
Xcel Energy has an opportunity for an Engineering General Manager to support the company's two Nuclear Generating Plants. This is a high-level leadership opportunity and the successful candidate will be responsible for providing oversight and standards for the conduct of all engineering activities performed. With approximately 70 reports, and reporting to a Vice President, the Engineering General Manager will be key in ongoing Nuclear operations and the future of the Fleet.

Essential Responsibilities:
Establish a culture of high performance within engineering. Ensures performance goals and objectives for engineering personnel are aligned to foster behaviors that support a continuous improvement culture and pursuit of excellence.
Establish and clearly communicate the strategy, objectives and expectations for engineering across the fleet. Ensures appropriately challenging goals or objectives are established for Engineering personnel. Supports establishment of incentive plan targets. Ensures clear communication of expectations within Engineering.
Provide oversight to site engineering organizations that includes ensuring high industry standards are maintained and implemented by all engineering personnel. Monitors performance of fleet and site Engineering work groups. Ensures adequate benchmarking is performed to maintain awareness of industry best standards and practices and action plans are in place for Nuclear Engineering to achieve and maintain these standards.
Represent Xcel Energy Nuclear for industry engineering-related issues. Act as company spokesperson for engineering issues.
Establish, monitor and assure compliance with the budget.
Travel to sites to provide direction, oversight of engineering activities, and support fleet meetings.
Supports the ongoing operations of the sites, provide strategic direction, guidance and support of nuclear and is jointly accountable with site personnel for meeting site and fleet Excellence Plans.

Qualifications

Required:
Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university in engineering required. 20 years of related nuclear power experience required. Post bachelor's degree in Engineering desired. Previous Senior Reactor Operator License or Certification preferred.
