The VP, Construction Management is responsible for all construction management activities for Recurrent Energy; overseeing delivery of utility scale solar photovoltaic power plants in the US, Canada, and emerging markets worldwide.
Duties & Responsibilities
Hire, manage and supervise team of Consturction Managers responsible for construction of all projects.
Manage and oversee all construction contracts from execution of contract through completion of project.
Prepare data and report on EPC performance metrics including current and historical project budget and scheduling metrics.
Oversee outside contractors who permit, contract, construct, and deliver projects to commercial operations.
Hire and manage professional and technical staff of construction personnel.
Provide all construction related inputs to proposals for new projects; equipment and construction services procurement.
Assist Procurement in establishing competitive system cost and performance targets.
Assist Engineering and Procurement in approving engineering and construction service providers in all market regions.
Work closely with Procurement to negotiate and execute all EPC contracts.
Test, commission and deliver projects to commercial operating status.
Establish and enforce standards and procedures for the organization
Qualifications & Skills
Graduate degree in Business, Finance or related field strongly preferred
4 year degree required in a related field
Course level work in construction management is desirable
10+ years successful track record in senior project management
Experience in the electric power industry a plus
Familiarity and experience with power project development process
Familiarity and experience with project and construction management planning and reporting tools
Experience in solar photovoltaics and renewables preferred
Proven track record in Construction management in electric power
Proven success in recruiting and leading a top-notch staff of construction professionals
Knowledge of and high degree of interest in methods and systems for project accounting/project reporting
Strong understanding of the legal and financial elements of construction contracts and their relationship to project finance and development
Knowledge of Construction practices, procedures, standards and regulations as they apply to electric power generation
Knowledge of renewable technologies, acceptance standards and construction contract terms
Demonstrated expertise in supporting development activities
Has extraordinarily high standards for themselves and others
Prizes communication and openness above all other managerial attributes and instills this in the team
Quantitative and numbers driven manager who communicates issues, assesses risk and demands results in terms of bottom line financial impacts to projects and the company
