Reports to Director of Facilities. Primary responsibilities include: oversees and fosters HBS Sustainability Program which focuses on energy conservation, waste management, best practices and behavioral change efforts; administers energy management program in terms of tracking and reporting on utilities; acts as project manager for miscellaneous sustainability and energy efficiency specific projects; is point person for GHG reduction plan and tracking, reporting of GHG emissions to HBS and HU. Supervises vendors in implementation of sustainability, utility related, and other miscellaneous projects. Acts as one of HBS primary resources in efforts to meet HU President's Green House Gas Reduction Goals. Assists with developing campus wide goals and procedures for reduction of green house emissions and energy consumption. Identifies, evaluates, implements energy and water conservation measures. Responsible for working with department heads in developing specific plans for reducing carbon footprint. Oversees, tracks, forecasts utility budget and consumption. Tracks, reviews monthly utility consumption and energy pricing. Identifies irregular load profiles and consumption. Maintains familiarity with energy benchmarking programs such as Portfolio Manager and ARC. Works with HU on utility related updates, tracking and projects. Applies for maximum utility rebates on projects. Keeps current with state and federal laws and grants, funding. Researches, potentially implements underutilized technologies and renewable energy applications. Participates in HBS waste reduction efforts by working extensively with other departments and community to create and implement measures that will promote source reduction, increase recycling, composting efforts. Establishes high-efficiency standards for new construction and existing buildings. Responsible for oversight of all Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED) projects. Manages project teams to achieve agreed to LEED goals. Develops, updates sustainability standards for campus. Works with other departments to construct marketing strategy that will showcase the school's green successes, create environmental awareness and promote sustainable living throughout community. Designs and updates HBS sustainability website content. Interacts with local utilities, vendors, engineers, architects, trades personnel, students, faculty, staff, HU Office for Sustainability, other HU departments. Responsible for budget development, forecast, execution of all HU Green Campus Loan Fund and HBS Sustainability related capital related projects. Manages energy conservation projects. Develops, prioritizes projects with payback analysis. Maintains familiarity with life cycle costing, building energy modeling. Oversees, manages, closes out multiple energy conservation projects. Maintains projects files, budgets, and contract documents. Assists in developing standards and processes for Capital Projects. Must maintain Prolog Project Management system with most recent budgetary and project updates. Closes out projects based upon HU CAPS requirements. Participates in commissioning of all construction projects, working with consultants or in house personnel to ensure proper installation, function of all systems. Acts as Operations representative Sustainability Point Person on all renovations and new construction. Must demonstrate ability to ensure the best interests of HBS are being met on all related issues.
Basic Qualifications B.A. in Facilities Management, B.S. in Engineering, or minimum of 5 years of applicable experience required. Background with facilities maintenance is desired. Prior experience as a project manager required. LEED accreditation and Certified Energy Manager (CEM) desired. Experience in the energy industry or a sustainability position preferred. Demonstrated experience with LEED projects. Knowledge of facilities, construction and energy terminology strongly necessary. Strong computer skills (MS Excel, MSWord, MS Internet Explorer, Email (MS Outlook), Power Point, administrative database application tools) essential. Must possess excellent decision making and organizational skills. Attention to detail is a must. Ability to communicate well in verbal and written form is essential. Strong public speaking and presentations skills are required. Self-motivated who can take initiative to resolve problems. Must be able to multi-task and meet deadlines in fast paced environment. Strong interpersonal skills. Ability to work well and build relationships with other Harvard department employees and vendors. |
