AREVA Federal Services LLC is seeking a Nuclear HVAC Engineer. Position is responsible for:
1. Under broad supervision, performs complex engineering assignments requiring originality, ingenuity and the development of new methods or resolution of conflicting objectives.
2. Provides advanced technical support to and works with multiple disciplinary teams to achieve project objectives.
3. Reviews progress and updates management, as needed.
4. Discipline lead for nuclear HVAC system design for unique one-of-a-kind modular systems, including all areas of the product lifecycle from specification, design, calculations, documentation, procurement, manufacturing, assembly, testing, delivery, training and commissioning support.
5. Work in a team-based environment to assist other engineers with the design of HVAC systems for nuclear applications, as well as assisting clients in defining system requirements.
6. Prepare documentation such as design and functional requirements, specifications, drawings, calculations, test procedures, and other supporting documentation.
7. Evaluate design alternatives and resolve complex field problems.
8. Performs a variety of complex engineering assignments typically in areas of design, development, analysis, evaluation, testing, preparation of specifications, execution of field tasks and resolution of field problems.
9. Receives minimal assistance and instruction on most assignments and solutions.
10. Ensures compliance with government, organization and customer engineering standards.
11. Independently evaluates, selects and applies a variety of technical techniques, procedures, and criteria using judgement in making complex adaptations and modifications.
12. Develops new or adapted products, methods, systems or models to provide added value solutions to customers.
13. Researches and assesses best practices, proposing methods and improvements.
14. Works on special projects and perform other related duties and tasks, as required.
DESCRIPTION OF DEPARTMENT/SECTION
The AFS Richland Engineering organization is responsible for the design, analysis, fabrication, testing, and deployment of systems and technologies to recover, process, handle and store radioactive waste at the Hanford Site and other DOE facilities. Additionally, the organization is responsible for providing technical support to the Hanford Site primary contractors.

Design, install and commission nuclear ventilation and comfort control HVAC systems for modular mobile facilities and equipment to be used in support of nuclear waste remediation missions

Qualifications
All candidates must meet the following minimum requirements in order to be considered for this opportunity. Candidates who exceed minimum qualifications may be considered for a higher level position.

BS in Mechanical Engineering plus a minimum of 5-7 years engineering experience in the nuclear industry (Level depending upon qualifications.)

Experience inplementing and interpretating ASME AG-1, ASME N509, ASME N510, ASME B31.3 and other national codes and standards into a finished product.
*
Previous related design experience required.
*
Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills necessary.
*
Possesses comprehensive knowledge in particular field of specialization and has completed significant assignments.
*
Has well-developled leadership qualities.
*
Works well in team and individual based development environments.
*
Experience designing HVAC systems to provide contamination control and worker comfort control in radiation and nuclear contamination areas.
*
Knowledge and experience applying NQA-1, government and national codes and standards.
