Civil Engineer - Nuclear

Job Description: Evaluates, selects, and applies standard engineering methods,
techniques, procedures and criteria, using independent judgment in
making adaptations and modifications. Performs assignments, which have
clear and specific objectives and require the investigation of a limited
number of variables for an engineering discipline within a global
business unit.

Understands the basic discipline work processes.
Performs engineering tasks, within a discipline, having a minor degree
of complexity.
Participates in reviewing and checking designs, drawings and data from
suppliers.
Familiar with relevant Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), design
standards and guides, and Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs).


This position is for Civil Resident Engineering on a nuclear power plant
with work assignment in Spring City, TN.

Project hires are hourly paid employees who are eligible for overtime
pay and are not eligible to participate in any Bechtel sponsored Benefit
Programs, i.e., Medical, Dental, Disability, 401K. Other Project Hire
terms and conditions apply. Project Hire status applies to the Watts
Bar Unit 2 Completion Project only and no guarantee of continuous
employment through project duration is implied.

Responsibilities include Civil/Structural System design and development,
including concept sketches and layouts. Use of engineering computer
programs and solutions; Preparation of design calculations and
specifications. Preparation or review of engineering studies and
reports. Reviewing and checking designs, drawings and data prepared by
suppliers. Reviewing design documents of equipment manufacturers or
subcontractors of a moderate degree of complexity and prepares comments
and recommendations. Preparation of letters for replies to vendor
correspondence. Assists in preparation of forecasts, quantity take offs
and change orders.

The Nuclear Civil Engineer's responsibilities include but are not
limited to: generation of change packages, analyzing existing
structures, generating baseline calculations, performing seismic
qualifications, preparing construction packages and coordination of
Problem Evaluation Reports.

Basic Qualifications:
A BS degree in Civil Engineering from accredited college or University
with at least 2 years experience as structural engineer or MS degree in
Civil Engineering.
Candidate must currently possess the eligibility to work in the U.S.
without sponsorship.
Candidate must be capable of passing nuclear security screening
requirements and be able to obtain unescorted clearance to a nuclear
power plant.

Preferred Qualifications:
Possess demonstrated skills in oral and written communication.
