ob Purpose
This is an exciting opportunity to work in a multi-faceted role with many areas of responsibility surrounding wind farm development. We are expanding our North American operations and will be hiring a Development Manager to represent First Wind in the New England area. This position will work on existing early stage projects and prospect for new sites for wind power. We are seeking an individual who currently resides in the region and has the drive to succeed!
Principal Responsibilities
Identify potential wind farm sites and assess feasibility by collaborating with First Wind internal teams.
Meet with landowners to negotiate leases for MET towers and wind farms.
Research information pertinent to wind farm development at site.
Work as a team lead / project manager to drive the project advancement.
Address community concerns and work in an outreach capacity to educate the local population on the benefits of wind energy in their community.
Develop relationships with local, state and federal officials. Represent First Wind to legislative and regulatory agencies.
Work on cross functional project teams within finance, legal, origination, environmental, transmission, construction and operations to assess sites, transmission capabilities, landowner agreements, power purchase agreements, etc.
Qualifications
Bachelors degree required.
3+ years of development experience in energy industry. Renewable energy is preferred.
Successful track record in a development or sales position.
Self starter and able to work in entrepreneurial culture, high energy level.
Skilled at building and maintaining relationships with diverse groups of project stakeholders.
Ability to manage project consultants.
Proven leadership and Project Management experience.
Ability to travel within the territory extensively, work evenings and weekends to plan and attend events.
