| Job Description: |
Leads construction engineers in a broad range of construction
engineering work within a specific engineering discipline for a
particular area of the project. Provides engineering assistance to
superintendents, directs assigned personnel in meeting cost and time
schedules, verifies materials, equipment, and quality and assures
results meet design requirements.
On a large project, functions as a lead discipline engineer,
coordinating related discipline activities and interfacing with other
areas/disciplines on the jobsite.
On a small to medium-sized project, performs the duties of a lead
engineer in an area, coordinating and directing a variety of
disciplines, or performs the duties as a Project Field Engineer or
Project Field Quality Control Engineer coordinating activities related
to the operation of the assigned operating section of the jobsite.
Key roles and responsibilities of Chief Construction Engineer- Nuclear
are;
-Key responsibilities include people, processes, tools, training
development, and oversight of project performance.
-Drive technical excellence, nurture a culture of creativity, safety and
quality within BPC
-Drive innovation, identify opportunities and technologies to improve
performance and reduce TIC within BPC. Encourage others to do so
-Introduce appropriate Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs),
remove all obsolete BSAPs, and identify and develop super-users
-Introduce and maintain Specifications / Standards / Design Guides /
Work Processes to match business needs.
-Align discipline processes and procedures as well as, engineering
instructions and deliverables to meet particular bid / project / client
requirements.
-Review compliance issues and implement any necessary changes and
training.
-Ensures a consistent approach/set of processes across (when and where
appropriate) the GBU, the other functions and the business
-Institutionalize the benefits of Six-Sigma, develop and implement PIPs
to improve work processes
- Identify, utilize and transfer lessons learned best practices and key
knowledge across projects and each GBU.
-Track and review project performance metrics including project budget,
schedule, quantities, job hours, quality and key deliverables. Set
clear expectations and introduce clear, meaningful measures to ensure
compliance
- Establish leading indicator metrics that measure and predict
performance
-Review and understand project development strategy, design basis, and
Project Execution Plans. Identify project risk. Provide active oversight
of project work. Conduct and participate in project reviews and audits
-Stimulate the identification of problem areas, root causes and develop
a concise statement of problems and lead in developing creative
solutions
Short Term assignments 6-8 weeks and travel to Projects 30% could/will
be required.
Basic Qualification:
-BS in Engineering or Construction Management
-At least 10 years experience in Nuclear Power
-Must be able to obtain and maintain access to Nuclear Sites
-A minimum of 10 years experience in supervising field non-manuals
-A minimum of 10 years Construction Experience
-Work includes projects reviews, climbing ladders, scaffold, walking on
elevated platforms, permanent ladders, uneven surfaces and
confined spaces.
-Must have the right to work and remain in the United States |
