Job Description:	The individual will perform the design, analysis, and subsequent testing in various aspects of electrical engineering, including, but not limited to, instrumentation and control, power systems, power electronics, data acquisition, machinery, and overall systems engineering. Aspects of the position involve development of design requirements, performing circuit and system design and analysis, manufacturing prototypes and performing testing, integrating system hardware, and software and performing design qualification. The individual will lead projects and will work closely and interface with various internal and external (e.g., shipyards, program vendors, etc.) organizations as part of this position. The position requires the individual to interface with cross discipline teams. Some travel may be required. Job Requirements : Educational Requirements: A Bachelor's of Science (BS) degree from an ABET accredited program in Electrical Engineering from an accredited college or university. Preferred: Minimum GPA of 3.0/4.0 Experience Requirements: * Five years of experience in electrical engineering * Proficient written and verbal communication skills Preferred: * Experience in leadership roles * Naval, conventional, or nuclear power plant experience is a plus * Modeling experience with electrical software simulation package such as Matlab/Simulink, Saber, and/or Simplorer * Hands-on laboratory experience
Company Description:	The Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory has developed advanced Naval nuclear propulsion technology and provided technical support during the construction, operation, and maintenance of Naval nuclear propulsion plants for more than 50 years. Bettis designed reactor plants for the first nuclear-powered submarines (USS NAUTILUS) and aircraft carrier (USS ENTERPRISE), all of the Nimitz class aircraft carriers, and the USS SEAWOLF. A major initiative for the Laboratory is the design of nuclear-powered propulsion plants and electrical power systems for the next class of U. Navy aircraft carriers. The Laboratory's main sites are located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and Idaho Falls, Idaho. Other locations where Bettis provides support include Charleston, South Carolina, and shipyards located in Groton, Connecticut and Newport News, Virginia. The Bettis Laboratory is operated for the Department of Energy by Bechtel Bettis, Inc. Bettis' responsibilities for nuclear propulsion include research and development, design, testing, training, new construction and operational support, and the examination and disposal of expended reactors.
