Job Description
To support financial analysis, modeling, forecasting, and monthly management reporting for AES Wind Generation and AES Solar Energy businesses. Serve as the Group’s expert on the financial planning and consolidations system (SAP BPC).
Responsibilities
Financial Analysis & Modeling
* Assist with the Group’s overall liquidity forecast. Ensure consistency between individual project model forecasts and the Group-level forecast models.
* Perform sensitivity analyses related to key risks, key business drivers, and opportunities
* Support analysis of financial results and participate in special projects as needed
Management reporting
* Prepare the Group’s monthly management reports.
* Serve as the Group’s expert on the financial planning and consolidations system (SAP BPC).
* Analyze business results and develop appropriate commentary for different audiences – identify key trends, items for follow up
* Create senior management presentations for Executive Office and Board of Directors’ meetings
* Compile and report key operational performance indicators.
Annual planning
* Support group-wide annual planning process including development and distribution of consolidation templates and economic assumptions.
* Consolidate individual operating business models and development models into one overall Group level plan.
* Assist in drafting plan presentations/summaries.
* Analyze key budget/plan drivers and perform scenario analysis on plan submissions.
Monthly forecasting
* Analyze operating business and development forecasts for reasonableness and consistency
* Investigate and document key variance drivers.
* Ensure that the Wind and Solar businesses comply with all AES Corporate monthly forecasting and reporting deadlines.
Special Projects
* Support M&A efforts, portfolio valuations, new business development, and other potential transactions.
* Field inquiries from AES Corporate Investor Relations and provide AES Wind and AES Solar business data as needed
* Other ad-hoc business analytics as needed.
Qualifications
Education and Background
* Undergraduate degree in Finance, Accounting, or Economics desirable
* MBA or similar graduate-level degree preferred, CPA desirable
* 4-6 years experience in financial areas with high degree of concentration in financial analysis, modeling, financial reporting, and senior management presentation support
* Interest in renewable energy and working in a fast-paced developing business, both domestically and internationally.
Technical
* Experienced user of Microsoft Office suite of products (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
* Competency in development and performance of variance, trend and industry financial analysis
* Significant experience in reviewing and interpreting financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow)
* Experienced user of enterprise financial systems, databases or other query or report writing tools
* Demonstrated abilities to understand, analyze and evaluate business financial issues within a variety of different industries
* Experience in corporate financial planning and forecasting
* Exposure to US GAAP accounting
Non-technical
* Excellent writing skills (eg. preparation of Executive Office and Board of Directors reports)
* Experienced at creating management presentations
* Team oriented with a ‘whatever it takes’ attitude
