Job Description:	• Our Power Engineer jobs provide you with an opportunity to be part of the change in our country’s energy program by assisting clients in the growth of renewables and other generation to reduce our dependency on foreign fuels. Our Power Delivery Group is one of the leaders in assisting IPPs and RTOs with evaluating our transmission system’s ability to accommodate and increase in wind and other renewables. Responsibilities • Become knowledgeable with U.S. electric industry standards that apply to study testing procedures for reliable electric system operation. • Gain familiarity with US electric system topology. • Perform technical analysis and provide insight on the impacts of transmission and generation development projects on existing facilities. • Gain experience and develop expertise in power system stability analysis, especially as it relates to the installation of renewable generating resources. • Participate in project teams and client meetings as appropriate. • Contribute to industry forums and regional and national technical committees to support further development of North American electric markets. • Write detailed reports based on studies performed and provide peer review for other’s work products as needed. Qualifications: • Minimum 8-10 years of related Power Delivery experience required • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering required (MSEE preferred) • Professional engineering registration in IL or the ability to obtain within 6 months • The selected individual will have significant experience in performing power flow and transfer studies on the bulk electric system. • The individual will have experience in numerous analyses on the frequency response characteristic of the system interconnection, identifying and implementing improvements to control performance. • Experience with system requirements for ancillary services, particularly regulation and black start service requirements. • Other areas of experience include: power flow and voltage in the real-time and planning horizons, and Energy Management Systems, Information Technology support, and power line construction design. Other important skills include: • Transmission Transfer Capability Analysis; • Generation Expansion Planning; • Transfer Capability (ATC) Calculations; • System Impact /Feasibility Studies; • Extreme Disturbance Testing; • Reliability Studies; • Electric System Risk Assessment Studies; • National/Regional Standards Development and Compliance; and • Utility Economic Analysis.
