The Dominion Generation business unit seeks a highly-motivated supervisor to support the day-to-day operation of the Virginia City Hybrid Energy Center.
Virginia City Hybrid Energy Center is a new coal and wood waste fired power station in the Southwest Virginia Coal Region with a net generating capacity of approximately 585 MW. The Virginia City site is located near St. Paul, Virginia. This facility is currently under construction and has a commercial operation date of July 17, 2012.
The successful candidate will direct employees in the production department at Virginia City Hybrid Energy Center, a conventional steam generating facility consisting of two sub-critical, single reheat Circulating Fluidized Bed boilers with an SNCR and an air quality control system, one reheat condensing steam turbine, and an air-cooled condenser.
The successful candidate will be able to perform the duties noted below in accordance with applicable codes and regulatory requirements:
1) Oversee a production team at the station;
2) Ensure the station is operated safely and reliably in accordance with all company, local, state, and federal policies and regulations;
3) Act as the liaison for the station with the Market Operations Center, System Operations Center, and Fossil and Hydro Operations Support;
4) Provide operational and technical advice to management;
5) Lead and mentor production employees;
6) Complete production qualification program;
7) Provide leadership in the implementation of policies, procedures, and work methods;
8) Coordinate operational activities with other departments at the station;
9) Ensure equipment is maintained and available;
10) Perform other duties as requested or assigned
During the construction and commissioning phases of the project, the incumbent will support the development of various station documentation, such as training materials, operating procedures, equipment inspection guidelines, and alarm response procedures.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities The ideal candidate will have coal or circulating fluidized bed power station start-up experience.
Position requires:
1) Power station supervisory experience;
2) Seven to ten years of power station operating experience.

1) Strong leadership and interpersonal skills;
2) Advanced knowledge of power station operations;
3) Strong written and oral communication skills;
4) Strong personal computer skills;
5) Proven decision-making skills;
6) Strong organizational skills;
7) Ability to learn quickly;
8) Basic knowledge and applications of mathematics, chemistry and physics;
9) Ability to solve problems and to process information quickly;
10) Working knowledge of labor contracts and employee relations;
11) Full knowledge of coal/material handling equipment
Education
Minimum: High school diploma or GED.
Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred.
Working Conditions 25% - 50%: Office work environment
50% - 75%: Cold, dust, grease, oil, energized wires, fumes, heat, loud noise, operating machinery, outdoors, considerable walking/climbing
