Position Overview:
BWP is currently seeking a highly experienced individual to fill a challenging wind turbine product development leader position.
We are looking for a candidate with the rare combination of strong technical and leadership skills, extensive wind turbine product development experience from the drawing board to final product deployment, and experience setting up manufacturing processes. The individual must have extensive experience and a deep understanding of all aspects of wind turbine design process, analytical modeling practices for both mechanical and electrical systems, system structural dynamics, manufacturing techniques, knowledge of IEC standards, and experience with technology successes and failures. This individual will be responsible for leading a team that will design a new megawatt scale direct drive wind turbine.
Responsibilities:
Specific job responsibilities include but are not limited to:
1. Support the CEO and VP of engineering in all strategically significant technical decisions and actions.
2. Lead utility scale turbine development effort:
* Lead turbine conceptual design process and turbine system optimization for minimum life cycle cost of energy.
* Specifying a reliability centered design approach using statistical design techniques.
* Specify turbine design process and requirements.
* Lead experienced turbine analysts in developing loads, load cases and loads document for IEC certification.
* Lead turbine design integration of a utility scale direct drive generator.
* Lead the specification and set up of manufacturing process.
3. Develop and manage subcontracts for consulting technical support, component fabrication and manufacturing facility development.
4. Manage turbine development budget and schedule to meet milestones.
Qualifications:
Our business is technical, complex, and high risk. We want someone who thrives in an uncertain and challenging environment and who has demonstrated successful track record in wind turbine technology development.
The successful candidate will have the following qualifications and attributes:
* At least 15 years of wind turbine development, market deployment and research experience.
* Undergraduate or graduate engineering degrees in disciplines relevant to wind turbine design and development.
* Worked for at least one wind turbine manufacturer in a technical leadership role.
* Experience leading wind turbine product deployment programs
* Well recognized wind industry expert
* Clear and effective verbal and written communication skills.
* Enthusiastic, energized by work, highly productive.
* Organized, detail-oriented and reliable.
