| Job Description: |
Provides diagnostic aid to physicians by conducting organ or body scans on patients. Prepares, measures, and administers radiopharmaceuticals in diagnostic and therapeutic studies, utilizing a variety of equipment and following prescribed procedures.
-Schedules and coordinates patient exam.
-Prepares and injects radiopharmaceuticals for diagnostic imaging procedures.
-Processes diagnostic imaging procedures and records radiopharmaceutical administration to patients.
-Receives and records appropriate information regarding receipt of radioactive materials and pharmaceuticals.
-Requests and coordinates all necessary patient information including medical char, charge slips.
-Performs quality assurance procedures on the equipment on a daily basis, including daily/weekly surveys and wipe testing procedures as required.
-Ensures compliance with the radioactive materials licensure requirements.
-The job-holder must demonstrate current competencies related to job position.
-Administers and records isotope dosage in accordance to established departmental protocol.
-Observes patient during procedure and reports any abnormal activity.
-Administers therapeutic doses of radiopharmaceuticals under direction of physician.
-Follows radiation safety techniques when disposing radioactive materials.
-Must work independently, ability to exercise judgment and make decisions, excellent communication skills to communicate with patients, perform while under stress and document accurately and concisely.
-Ensures operational excellence and quality of care in the facility.
-Demonstrates knowledge of the safe operation of equipment and follows procedures of reporting and correcting unsafe acts.
-Demonstrates knowledge of radiation safety to provide a safe environment for patients and staff.
-Demonstrates appropriate knowledge and documentation of designated radiographic skills.
-Collects appropriate clinical history and correlates findings with procedure being performed.
-Documents services provided in a thorough and effective manner.
-Adhere to procedure protocols as established by the Medical Director.
-Checks requisition for physician notes and/or special instructions.
-Adheres to established facility and OSHA requirements and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
-Performs assigned duties associated with interventional procedures.
-Attends and participates in all applicable scheduled facility training and development workshops.
-Maintains work area in a neat and orderly manner.
-Maintains dress and appearance in accordance with designated dress code.
-Abides by all company policies and procedures.
-Identify problems and communicate to immediate supervisor.
-Utilizes telephone and paging systems appropriately.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
-Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
-Position may require overtime periodically.
-Participate in various educational/training activities.
-Also maintain the strictest confidentiality.
-Responsible for quality and continuous improvement within the job scope.
-Responsible for all actions/responsibilities as described in company controlled documentation for this position.
-Contributes to and supports the corporation?s quality initiatives by planning, communicating, and encouraging team and individual contributions toward the corporation?s quality improvement efforts.
Skills / Requirements
Educations: Successful completion of an accredited program for this modality. CEU credits and registration renewal/licensing maintained as required by credentialing body.
Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience in radiology, and registration with the Nuclear Medicine Technology.
Licenses or Certifications: Registered by either the ARRT or NMTCB and state requirements.
