EU Energy was founded in 2003 as an alternative energy company to provide innovative and technologically superior solutions to the renewables arena. Its initial focus was on bringing composite wind towers to the European market as an alternative to conventional steel towers. In 2005 FKI, a UK based engineering company, announced they were closing down DeWind, a German wind turbine manufacturer. EU Energy saw the opportunity to buy the troubled turbine manufacturer and turn it into a successful business. Since then EU Energy has conceived the D8.2 turbine to enable entry into the US markets. EU Energy has also partnered in India for manufacture of DeWind turbines, signed licensing deals into China and sold more than 100 D8.2 into the North American market with framework agreements for a further 1000 units confirmed until 2010.
