Kansas Wind Power (KWP) is a privately funded Lenexa, Kan.-based company. KWP was founded in September 2001 by a group of entrepreneurs, engineers and business leaders who share a common vision to see Kansas become a worldwide leader in renewable energy. The goal of KWP is to become the leading developer of wind power in Kansas, delivering renewable energy to municipalities, utilities and cooperatives throughout the state and the surrounding region. KWP is the only locally owned and operated wind energy developer with active projects in the state of Kansas. The company has a mission to develop low-cost renewable energy projects that keep energy rates low while protecting the environment.
