MarkWest Energy Partners, L.P. (MarkWest Energy) is a master limited partnership engaged in gathering, transportation and processing of natural gas; the transportation, fractionation and storage of natural gas liquids (NGLs), and the gathering and transportation of crude oil. The Company processes natural gas in the Appalachia region. MarkWest Energy processes natural gas and owns a crude oil transportation pipeline in Michigan. The Company conducts its operations in three geographical areas: the Southwest, the Northeast and the Gulf Coast. In August 2008, MarkWest Energy Partners, L.P. announced that it had completed the acquisition of gathering assets primarily located in Pittsburg County in Southeast Oklahoma from Petroquest Energy, LLC.
