Roka Bioscience is focused on the development and commercialization of highly accurate, cost-effective, easy-to-use molecular assays for biopharmaceutical production, water and food safety testing and other industrial applications. Roka Bioscience was established in 2009 through a spin-off of Gen-Probe's industrial testing assets and technology into a new independent company. Gen-Probe is a global leader in nucleic acid tests (NATs) used primarily to diagnose human diseases and screen donated human blood. Roka's NATs will be based on proven technologies and instrument platforms with exclusive licensing rights from Gen-Probe.

Roka assays employ the same technologies for industrial applications, specifically, the food safety industry, biopharma manufacturing, and building cooling towers for climate control.

Roka's mission is to become a global leader in molecular diagnostics for industrial applications. In the field of food safety testing, the Company is developing novel testing solutions to help companies protect their products from contamination and protect consumers from exposure to pathogens. Roka currently is working with Millipore Corporation to develop microbial detection systems to ensure the purity of biopharmaceutical productions and GE Water to develop assays for the detection of microbial contamination in industrial water. In addition to biopharmaceutical, water and food safety testing, Roka Bioscience is in a position to pursue other industrial applications in the future including veterinary, environmental bioterrorism, and infection control.
