Energy Producers- Developers

Sundrop Fuels, Inc. is a gasification-based advanced biofuels company with corporate headquarters in Colorado. The company’s proprietary high-temperature radiant particle reactor turns virtually any kind of cellulosic material into ultra-clean, affordable biobased “green gasoline” or other transportation fuel for direct use in today’s automobiles, diesel engines and aircraft.

Unlike other biofuels production methods that burn considerable amounts of feedstock to generate the heat needed for gasification, Sundrop Fuels has the first process that converts virtually all of the biomass used into actual fuel. This efficiency positions the company to compete directly with petroleum products by producing ultra-clean renewable advanced biofuels for an estimated unsubsidized cost of less than $2 per gallon.

As importantly, Sundrop Fuels’ product lifecycle reduces significantly the amount of greenhouse gas released into the atmosphere as compared to today's petroleum-based fuels.

For these and many other reasons, Sundrop Fuels technology represents the best possible use of the world’s critical environmental, economic and energy resources.

Core elements of our unique technology were developed by and are licensed through the University of Colorado Boulder and the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL). Sundrop Fuels’ predecessor company, Solarec, began developing concentrated solar technology a decade ago with scientists from Los Alamos National Laboratory. In 2008, Sundrop Fuels also acquired Copernican Energy, a University of Colorado technology transfer company involved in solar-thermal biomass-to-gas conversion systems.

Sundrop Fuels is backed by our strategic partner, Chesapeake Energy Corp., and by two of the world’s premier venture groups, Oak Investment Partners and Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers. The company’s management team is led by recognized, highly accomplished industry veterans from the energy, chemical, solar and technology fields.
