Performed Preconstruction responsibilities for Little Haiti Cultural Center ($14M) and Jose Marti Park Gym ($10.5M), both for the City of Miami.
• Provided constructability reviews, value engineering, produced CPM schedule
• Participated in the bid process with the Preconstruction Dept, qualified bidders.
• Developed GMP, schedule of values and negotiate with City of Miami Procurement.
Successfully completed 11 concurrent school projects for the Miami-Dade County School Board under a CM at Risk delivery system in an 8 month fast-track schedule. Responsibilities included:
• Start-up operations, staff set up and project completion (close-out)
• Reviewing and preparing change orders
• Contract scoping and negotiating Subcontracts
• Complete CM at Risk responsibilities and dealings with the Owner.
1995-2000 Project Manager, Tarafa Construction, Inc.
• Managed several multi-million dollar Design/Build MDCPS School Board projects.
• Responsible for direct construction administration, scope of work coordination with multiple subcontractors and assisted in the value engineering review phase.
• Represented the General Contractor with decision-making authority, during all phases of the project from design, construction contract administration and warranty closeouts.
• In-charge of all documentation and coordination between the A/E, the Design Criteria Professional firm and the General Contractor.
• Conducted MDCPS Board presentations and committee review procedures.
• Other projects include the 42nd Street multi-story Parking Garage, a structural renovation project for the City of Miami Beach.
• Participated in the value engineering process and subcontractor qualifications & negotiations for the Mathew W. Gilbert Performing Auditorium for Florida Memorial College in North Miami-Dade County.
Served as Project Field Architect for several M-DCPS projects and participated in the design and construction phases for DCAD (Miami International Airport) and M-DCPS projects. Responsibilities included:
• Project programming, design, space planning and construction administration for the Miami-Dade County Aviation Dept (MDCAD) and Cargo Building Areas, as well as for the Miami-Dade County Public School system (M-DCPS).
• Other projects include healthcare facilities and multi-million dollar custom homes.
• Also served as Project Field Rep in the contract administration, field inspections, project scheduling, staff supervision and performing quality control inspections for the American Airlines Eagle Facilities at San Juan, Puerto Rico Airport (Hub Development Project), a multi-million dollar project.
• Assisted in the preparation of planned unit development plans and impact studies of housing and park projects in South Florida such as “The Hammocks†in Kendall.
• Worked extensively on the renovation and design of the public utilities and entrance to the Rickenbacker Causeway.
• Contributed as team member in the development of landscape and planning projects through presentation, design concept and technical drawings.
