The majority of my career has been in renovations and modernizations. What I do I do well and would like the opportunity to work for a company that understands the complexities of the position and the potential issues and complications that can arise during the term of the project and work with me for a satisfactory completion. I can read plans, specifications and drawings issued by A&E firms and government entities. I work well with owner client representatives and accommodate occupying tenants, sub-contractors and vendors.
Health, well being and a balance between work and leisure are all very important to me even though I do tend to take my work home with me. I am a bit "old school" when dealing with subordinates, co-workers, sub-contractors and vendors and that I like to do business on "good faith" and a handshake. Trust, communication and commitment are required at every level. Plans change constantly so every moment available I dedicate to planning my next move. One can get a lot of work done by simply planning ahead. By spending that extra time I can do what it takes to get the job done.
I am fairly proficient in communication technology/computers and I use MS Office daily along with email, photo and document transferring, tasking and scheduling using multiple calendars. I am more familiar with each component individually however I have used Outlook. Many forms and documents which are created in Word and Excel are easily completed and attached for transfer. MS Project I am familiar with but I do have more experience with project scheduling templates that I have created in Excel.
Income requirements vary from person to person and it could vary greatly depending on residing and working geography. In Tennessee my position has typically paid $900 per week plus per diem, company vehicle and phone / ISP allowance. I would like to see an arrangement at least consistent with my residing location wherever it may be. If this position does require significant nationwide travel it really doesn't matter where I reside however I am located in Tennessee and prepared to relocate when needed if my qualifications are consistent with your needs. Please contact me anytime with any questions.
OBJECTIVE AND SUMMARY OF QUALIFICATIONS
I would like to obtain a full time position as part of your team and to use my skills and experience to enhance your business and project/s. I offer twenty-five years hands-on and management experience in residential and commercial remodeling and renovations. I have wide-ranging management experience in building/property and the home improvement industries and as Project Superintendent on various government projects. Most recent being FAA Air Traffic Control Tower, complete interior modernization at Eppley Airfield, Omaha, NE This $250,000 project came in profitable and ahead of schedule. USDA, ARS facility in Lansing, MI. exterior and interior renovation of research and confinement buildings, this $250,000 project is ongoing pending Historic Society approval. I worked closely with A & E firms and Industrial Hygienist and abatement crews as needed to complete the scope of work according to government specifications of asbestos abatement. Contractor (FAA, OAA) escort security clearance and OSHA 30 Certification was obtained as per contracts.
Director of Operations and controller and implemented maintenance schedules of heavily used equipment that shortened downtime which increased profits. Complete turn-key projects from conception of projects to completion and planned and assigned construction schedules for subcontractors that enabled projects to be completed profitable and ahead of schedule. My early Quality Control experience came when in the late 70’s I worked for independent Mercedes dealers where in two years I became working shop foreman specializing in Mercedes Benz, BMW and Rolls Royce.
Open minded hard working professional with the ability to communicate effectively and immediately and develop rapport with customers, subordinates and management. Working public relations in handling the needs of customers, clients, vendors and associates is a continuing priority. I have the necessary practical and technical experience and persistence to get the job done. Success oriented and enthusiastic with the ability to identify and prioritize ever changing situations. Proven to be resourceful and innovative and exercise discretion and independent judgment on the job and I’m increasingly stimulated by a challenge.
In the construction business there are projects at varying stages from conception to completion which does cause an overlap of work in order to make schedule. It is the nature of the business and down time is not a viable option. A quick study and very willing and capable of learning from co-workers and those in the trade. I can appreciate working with experienced and willing team players to spread out the project responsibilities and avoid overload where small details can be missed and create unnecessary cost. If you plan with support and closely monitor Quality Control there won’t be issues that have an unpleasant return or create additional costs. Plans themselves don’t fail unless they go unsupported. I strive to have very short punch lists and complete projects with a good reputation and clear conscience.
