Specialized Skills and Knowledge:
Supervision—Acted as liaison between: contractor and customer, union & merit shop, general contractor, engineers, safety and quality control inspectors, and other building trades representatives while supervising up to sixty men as Foreman, General Foreman & Superintendent performing on-time or before schedule quality projects. 2001—02 as a Foreman at Ford Field football stadium (Detroit, MI) I participated in two record (non-crane) lifts of 2764 tons each.
Structural Steel Erection—Numerous projects covering all phases as a: general foreman and foreman, connector, welder, hook-on man, signalman (hand and radio), safety man. Set: auto facilities, powerhouses (fossil and nuclear), paper & steel mills, one to twenty-five story buildings, coke batteries, rotary and blast furnaces, foundries, mold lines, misc. iron (handrail, stairs etc.), room modules for the Contemporary and Polynesian Hotels at Disney World (at the time, the largest non- government project in the world).
Rigging—Includes the use of fork trucks, hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, frame scaffolding, tubular and quick fit (three stories of more); picks, picking beams, the use of chokers (wire rope with eyes) for lifting vessels, tanks, mud drums (up to 300 tons) and setting structural steel; moving and aligning machinery using snatch blocks and winches; the reeving of sheaves; helicopter lifts; guy towers; using cable as lashing to temporarily secure: members, devices and equipment; using sisal line and a variety of knots to secure, guide, lower and raise various components and many other applications too numerous to mention.
Cranes—Assembled, disassembled and loaded cranes for use, transporting on trucks, trailers and railroad cars, erected buildings and moved materials, equipment and machinery using: pole trucks, gin poles, rigging, crawler and truck cranes and hydraulics from 10 to 500 tons. Set and dismantled bridge (overhead) cranes ranging from 2 to 300 tons in powerhouses, automobile plants, steel mills and other facilities.
Blueprints and Layout—Extensive experience and knowledge: reading blueprints, laying out materials and fabrication (in field and shop settings). Use a variety of hand tools: squares, micrometers, calipers and others. Knowledge and use of transits and levels including lasers.
Conveyors—Supervising of installation, lay out, fabrication, moving, erection, remodeling, removing and set-up of gravity, belt, monorail, flat tops, power and free, inverted power and free, floor, electrified conveyors, baggage handling systems and all components related to such systems including but not limited to: drives, reducers, transfers, platforms, catwalks, screen guard, electrical panels, limits, switches, sensors, guardrail, stations (loading, unloading, work and lubricating), storage and bank areas and many other specialized components and machinery.
Welding and Burning—Certified stick welder and have experience using wire feed machines and stainless. Proficient using Oxy—Acetylene and Plasma burning equipment.
Precast—Set: ninety feet long monorail sections at Disney World (also tied rods for bases and platforms); parking structures, architectural panels and floor systems (StresCore) for schools and other commercial projects.
Pre Engineered Buildings—All phases (erection, sheeting, decking, insulation, etc.) including the erection of a 300 feet free span hangar for 747’s.
Computer Literate—Microsoft Office Pro ‘03 & ‘07, MS Project ’07, AutoCAD v10, Windows XP, Vista and others.
Business and Office—Experienced in: scheduling personnel, material, equipment and contractors; shipping/receiving, ordering and controlling inventory, public relations and direct sales. Proficient in writing reports, newsletters and public speaking, OCIP insurance programs, tool box talks & safety orientation.
Certifications—1) Certified in the Lead Hazard and Removal Training Program for Iron Workers; an EPA and OSHA approved program (12/94).
