• Seek projects to bid on through various sources such as invitation, websites Builders Exchange and the media
• Receive bid, contract and specification documents for review. Visit job site for pre-bid walk through, check site location and conditions.
• Request for Information (RFI) for clarifications from architects, construction manager, vendors and sub-contractors.
• Notify co-workers to assist in the bid process. Send out for equipment and material quotes, sub-contractors, vendors, RFQ’s, and contact union for updated labor rates.
• Review all job site safety concerns and quote any additional cost. Offer volunteer alternates for customer savings.
• Finalize quote and review with estimating manager and other estimators to cover all aspects of the bid documents.
• Attend bid openings and proceed with contract negotiations, review released “ for construction†plans, documents and specifications. Communicate with job superintendent, project manager and site foreman. Turn over all plans, specs, documents and correspondences to project manager.
• Assist project manager with change orders. Quote change orders with labor and material cost. Adjust original contract to reflect changes. Issue credit for change orders as needed, close out job for final billing.
