CONSTRUCTION MANAGER
HOBBS, INCORPORATED * NEW CANAAN, CT. 2007-08
As a construction manager for Hobbs, Inc. was given autonomy to supervise a daily work force of up to 50 and manage the schedule while working in conjunction with world renown architect- Mark P. Finlay Associates of Southport, CT. Was instrumental initially in document writing which included scopes of work for the project. Also gave support in estimating initial budget costs and buyouts. Helped lead and support weekly progress and budget meetings amongst owners, architects, & designers. Other daily duties included interfacing with architects, designers, vendors, and owner, maintaining good working relationships with neighbors, & keeping daily field reports.
Notable Accomplishments:
Successfully completed the project on time and under budget despite the scope of work almost doubling in size. This was due in part by being proactive; I. e. giving design considerations to the architects and designers and being able to execute the work in a more efficient manner.
Assisted in buying out an initial budget of 2.7 million dollars for 300,000 less which gave the owners greater flexibility. This cost savings was due to an ability to negotiate better pricing and execute the work with greater efficiency. The end budget was slightly above 3 million dollars due to owner induced costs.
Gave design considerations which greatly increased the functionality, and value of the home.
Managed the installation of a geothermal heating and cooling system
Our project is being considered for a 2008 HOBI award for category of a remodel around 3 million dollars.

CUSTOM FINISH CARPENTER
RICHARD EIFERT CARPENTRY * ST. CLAIR, MI 1986-1988
While employed for Mr. Eifert, I learned the craft, techniques of & analytical problem solving of fine custom cabinetry & mill work. I credit my time with Mr. Eifert as what would later give me a fundamental part of my business; custom carpentry & cabinetmaking.
Accomplishments:
Worked side by side with Mr. Eifert on framing his home and other remodeling projects. After spending a couple of months with Mr. Eifert, he gained the confidence to allow me to work unsupervised on various projects. I also assisted Mr. Eifert in cost estimating and budgeting of work.
Assisted Mr. Eifert with the installation of custom hickory beams, cherry raised panel columns, wainscoting, and other custom mill work in the 200 room historical Thomas Edison Inn in Pt. Huron, MI.
