Be a team member of a leading building materials manufacturer or distributor who will provide
opportunities for me to grow professionally
I have been working exclusively in the building component industry since 1986. Initially, I worked as a truss designer for 6 years before securing a position at Georgia-Pacific in their engineered lumber department. Over my 10-year career with G-P, I fulfilled many roles. I-joist designer, software trainer, software distribution manager, design department manager, inside product specialist, and outside sales specialist were all duties that I performed at some point during my employment there. I left Georgia-Pacific and went to work for Wheeler’s Building Materials. Retail estimating and sales of trusses, rough framing and vinyl products helped to broaden my knowledge of building materials. Two years later I was hired by Williams Bros Lumber to manage their inspection department dedicated to trusses and engineered lumber products. At one time I was responsible for training and supervising a staff of six inspectors.
However, my situation has changed drastically over the last 18 months. As a result of multiple purchases and acquisitions I am now employed by a company called ProBuild. Each transition has been accompanied by re-structuring, staff reductions and corresponding decreases in compensation. I have been a “good soldier†and stuck with this organization through all these rough times. My current position is senior EWP designer where I feel my talents and expertise are under-utilized.
As I foresee no improvement at ProBuild in the near future, I am exploring employment opportunities elsewhere. I have extensive customer service experience. I am proficient with the Microsoft Office software suite, and have excellent communication and organizational skills. I can interact effectively with vice-presidents or nail-drivers. I have been working effectively in a team-oriented environment for over two decades. I have worked both retail and wholesale operations, in the office and in the field, sales and design. I have intimate knowledge of trusses and engineered lumber products and their applications; I am familiar with most of the major builders and building materials dealers in the Georgia market. I have a firm grasp of the construction practices and market dynamics in the Atlanta area. I have recent experience operating Truswal and Alpine truss software, as well as FastBeam/FastPlan (GP) and Javelin/TJBeam (Weyerhaeuser) engineered lumber software. While I have not operated MiTek truss software, I could learn it quickly because the Javelin program is based on the same OptiFrame engine and uses a very similar interface.
Surely my 20+ years of building component experience could benefit your organization in some capacity. Or perhaps you’re aware of positions elsewhere that might better utilize my skills? Please contact me if you are aware of any opportunities for which I am qualified. I am versatile, and willing to learn new skills for growth into different facets of the business.
