ES&H Specialist - I just finished a year and a half assignment at a corn wet milling plant as the ES&H Supervisor over 15 plus Contractors and 300 to 500 Contractor employees. They had 1 serious Lost Time Accident and 8 Recordable Injuries before I took over. I was able to take the Contractors to the finish of Construction work with almost 2 million manhours without an LTA and only 1 Recordable Injury.

• Safety Engineer with Turner Universal Construction Company for the construction of two green technology (environmentally friendly) buildings for the US Government as part of the modernization of the Y-12 National Nuclear Security Complex, the Production Support Facility being a 4 story U shaped bldg. of approximately 700,000 sq. ft. having a courtyard in the middle, hospital, cafeteria, training center, laboratories, decontamination facility, many offices, and security infrastructure and the Public Interface Building of approximately 150,000 sq. ft. having laboratories, offices, and security badging facility. Involved with site prep, new underground utilities, pile driving, large concrete retaining walls, pre-cast panel walls, hydraulic elevators, electrical, mechanical, communication, etc. up to and including furniture and equipment for 2 designs, build, and turn key buildings. Managed Environmental Health & Safety on both sides from start to finish of both projects.
• Health and Safety Specialist/Superintendent with Safety and Ecology Corp. for the Environmental Cleanup/Remediation of a Radiological, Chemical, Environmentally contaminated site in Burbank, CA owned by NUCOR. Mr. Ward was brought in to audit the project, help with any Health and Safety concerns, and relieve the Superintendent/SSHO during their vacation. During the 12 weeks at this project there were zero accidents, illnesses, incidents or injuries. Mr. Ward returned to work on demolition, roof, fence, waste, transportation and other projects at the Y-12 National Nuclear Security Complex through the present.
• Health and Safety Specialist/Superintendent with Safety and Ecology Corporation for UT Battelle the prime contractor for Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Oak Ridge, TN to lead completion and punch list items at the High Power Target Laboratory Bldg. 6000 Renovations Project. Mr. Ward was requested by the Facility Manager, the Construction Technical Representative, and the Safety Representative to be kept on the project until all items were completed and the cleanup and demobilization of the site was accomplished. Project completed with zero accidents, illnesses, incidents, injuries. No unsafe acts reported by UT Battelle for April and May.
• Health and Safety Specialist/Superintendent with Safety and Ecology Corp. for the Melton Valley Hydrologic Isolation New Hydro fracture Facility D&D, Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Oak Ridge, TN.
Mr. Ward was requested to lead a recovery effort for SEC after the NHF D&D Project was issued a stop work order and a DOE Type B investigation was completed. Two electrical incidents, a fuel truck rolling off a hill and striking other vehicles preceded a leaking tank in a dump truck which contaminated a state road that caused the stop work on the entire project and the DOE Type B investigation. All recovery efforts were completed in the manner required by Bechtel Jacobs LLC, the prime contractor for cleanup efforts in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. Mr. Ward was responsible for all Supervision and Health and Safety aspects of the recovery effort in the field. Subsequent to completion of all required items for closeout of the project, the reputation of SEC was being restored and the project was closed out with accolades from all levels of BJC management. Project successfully recovered with zero accidents, illnesses, incidents, injuries, contamination events and praise in several articles, meetings, word of mouth, etc. about the recovery effort and closeout of the contract.
• Site Health and Safety Specialist for the Melton Valley Hydrologic Isolation
Miscellaneous D & D Project with Safety and Ecology Corporation at Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Oak Ridge, TN. Project completed with zero accidents, contaminations events, illnesses, incidents and injuries. Project involved removal of miscellaneous items (i.e. old cranes, centrifuge casings, piping of all kinds, ammo boxes, and many other materials) from areas in Melton Valley to be buried and the demolition and burial of several structures including a highly contaminated office trailer and other highly contaminated items. Bechtel Jacobs LLC was the prime contractor and the project was completed ahead of schedule with a good margin.
• Site Health and Safety Manager with Safety and Ecology Corp. for the DOE Mound HH Bldg. and miscellaneous structures D&D in Miamisburg, OH.
Mr. Ward was responsible for all aspects of Safety, Health, and the Environment for SEC and the client (CH2M Hill) at the Mound Closure Project. Responsible for reducing the amount of wastes going out as low level DAW by significant amounts saving the client and DOE a significant amount of cleanup money. OSHA recordable and lost work day rates are 0 and 0 for this project .He received an award from DOE and CH2M Hill for Outstanding Safety Management of the project because SEC was the only subcontractor during the closure to have zero accidents, contamination events, illnesses, incidents, injuries, management critiques.
