Experience
Project Manager May 2006 – January 2009 Flintco, Inc. Austin, TX
• Texas State University San Marcos – Concho St. Redevelopment & N. LBJ Bus Loop Dr. ($7,000,000):
This project encompassed four areas of the campus and was constructed off two separate sets of construction documents by two architects of record. Close coordination with all parties involved was necessary in order to facilitate a successful completion. As the first Flintco project for Texas State University, its success - along with excellent customer satisfaction - led to three additional projects for the University within the first six months of the project duration.
Responsibilities included: overall management of the project from pre-construction services to project close out, managed a project team of six people (new to their positions), maintained close coordination with owner’s representatives and consultants.
• Embassy Suites Hotel and San Marcos Convention Center ($60,000,000):
This upscale, ten story hotel included 283 guest rooms, over 300 piers, an open atrium with skylight, and an adjoining 77,360 sqft convention and conference center. A unique aspect of this project included coordination between two owners (John Q. Hammons and the City of San Marcos), which shared one building and one set of construction documents. Two contracts were issued to each subcontractor performing work in both the hotel and the adjoining convention center.
Responsibilities included: subcontractor buyout, contracts, management of all structural components of the building, conveying systems, electrical, change management, and management of the engineering team.
• University of Texas at Austin – Research Office Complex ($25,000,000):
The multi-story UT Research Office Complex houses the world’s largest super computer and includes over 300 offices and classrooms. This building was the first University of Texas at Austin building to acquire LEED certification.
Responsibilities included: managing a team of engineers, project closeout, extensive commissioning, owner training, owner and subcontractor payment applications, assisting with schedule updates, and maintaining LEED back up documentation.
Sr. Project Engineer January 2001 – May 2006 HC Beck, Ltd. Austin, TX
• University of Texas at Austin - Center for Nano and Molecular Science and Technology ($30,000,000):
This seven story building is a state-of-the-art research facility containing clean room construction, a vibration sensitive concrete structure, two basement levels, a concrete tunnel under an existing building, high-end finishes, and extensive mechanical systems for clean room environment.
Responsibilities included: project scheduler (Primavera P3); general oversight and management of the building structure, framing/drywall, fire protection, clean room systems, and coordination of daily activities for Project Engineers.
• Sabre Holdings, Inc. – Travelocity San Antonio Call Center ($2,500,000):
This fast track 35,125 SF project was completed on time and under budget, exceeding all owner expectations, and obtaining high compliments from Sabre Holdings, Inc. management. Substantial completion was established in three months, meeting the owner’s stringent schedule constraints in finishing this 300 plus employee call center.
Responsibilities included: overall management of the project.
• SBC Alliance:
The Beck/SBC Alliance consisted of a variety of construction services including infrastructure, collocations, building additions, and new construction.
Responsibilities included: all aspects of the project from preconstruction design review to project close out. Managed over 250 projects across Texas in a two year period and as many as 25 projects concurrently and in excess of $8,000,000.
Pre-graduate Experience
Project Intern 2000 (Summer) Austin Commercial, Inc. San Antonio, TX
• USAA - McDermott Building Expansion ($260,000,000):
Participated in problem solving, project scheduling, document control, and field engineering. Gained experience in construction based software: Project Talk / P3.
Owner 1994-2000 Barnes Remodeling Lubbock, TX
• Completed general remodeling projects in excess of $15,000. Gained experience in cost estimating, contracting, customer relations, and all stages of construction. Managed crews of up to six employees and specialized in high-end finishes. Clientele included Drexel-Heritage, Ethan Allen, Wet Seal, and Sally’s Beauty Supply.
