• Renovation and restoration of Old War was carried out in multiple sub-phases to allow for sequential vacancy of existing offices which was further complicated by the need for retaining usable space for post September 11 diplomatic security requirements. Working with GSA and State, Jacobs managed the renovation project in phases encompassing separate bid packages for demolition and abatement, infrastructure (mechanical, electrical, plumbing), and the tenant fit-out.
• Jacobs managed the construction effort while the building remained fully occupied and functioning with over 8,000 diplomatic and foreign affairs personnel maintaining continuous operations. Careful coordination, planning, and execution were required to accommodate diplomatic affairs and day-to-day functions. Highly sensitive security, as well as health/safety issues, was also addressed during asbestos abatement of the ceilings of Old War and sprinkler installation throughout the diplomatic reception area in “New Stateâ€.
• Worked on this renovation for the entire cycle, from demolition to build-out and final move-back of the employees.
• Designed and proofread for accuracy comprehensive and flexible templates used to report monthly, quarterly progress and yearly progress, allowing firm to quickly and consistently generate reports for client and State Department.
