Project Manager, Minooka (IL) CCSD 201 Schools (2008-2009, Gilbane Building Co.)
New K-4 school, new 5-6 Grade Center, additions and renovations to two existing buildings, totaling $48 million and 250,000 sf.
o Implemented bidding strategies that contributed to savings of $2.3 million against the budget.
o Active constructability analyses and cost estimates led to significant changes in design concepts for renovation and re-use of the historic Minooka Intermediate School.
Project Manager, Chicago International Charter Schools, Ellison HS Campus (2006-2008, Valenti Builders)
Additions and renovations to a unique 1926 building with separate gymnasium building. Total $12 million. Included extensive restoration of historic limestone façade, green roof on new gym.
o Led the outreach efforts that exceeded the owner’s goal of 10% of the budget be allocated to local, minority-owned companies.
o Planned abatement and selective demolition methods that maximized preservation of the original terrazzo and wood flooring.
Project Manager, Eleven 20 Club (2004-2006, Trapani Construction)
Preconstruction and general contracting for a 7-story mixed-used facility. This $20 million project included retail, a 24-hour fitness center with pool and gym, 44 luxury condo units, and below-ground parking.
o Budget constraints required extensive redesign with the architect, while maintaining the construction schedule.
o Tight site and flowing groundwater required innovative shoring, underpinning, and sequencing.
Senior Project Manager, Lake Zurich High School (2002-2004, Bovis Lend Lease)
Preconstruction and construction for additions (120,000 sf) and renovations (80,000 sf) to Lake Zurich High School. New construction included a 680-seat Performing Arts Center, 14 science labs, fieldhouse, food service facilities, nurse’s suite, and classrooms; new HVAC, lighting, fire protection, and telecommunications systems throughout. Total construction value $40 million.
o Worked closely with staff to prioritize student safety during 18-month construction.
o Led community outreach and “teaching moment†involvement for students.
o Championed detailed value engineering during selective demolition work.
Project Manager, AT&T 10 South Canal Addition, Chicago (1999-2001, Bovis Lend Lease)
At-risk CM services for a $50 million, 5-story, 120,000 sf addition with structural steel frame, 300 psf live-load cast-in-place concrete decks, and precast concrete façade, included new power, emergency standby power, and mechanical systems tied into the existing 28-story building.
o Led coordination efforts so the mission-critical AT&T phone switching operations continued throughout construction.
o Revised and resequenced activities to minimize weather protection costs during unusually cold winter while maintaining schedule.
Program Manager, Lombard (IL) ESD44 Schools (1998-1999, Bovis Lend Lease)
Preconstruction and construction of additions (68,000 sf), renovations, and mechanical upgrades at one middle school and six elementary schools. Total construction value $19 million.
Project Manager, Elk Grove (IL) CCSD 59 Schools (1997-1999, Bovis Lend Lease)
Facility assessment, preconstruction, and construction management for a 5-year program of additions, renovations, and sound abatement improvements to one junior high and seven elementary schools. Total construction values of $42 million.
o Coordinated FAA sound abatement program submittals for supplemental funding.
o Organized hands-on “Kidz Kamp†day for each elementary school project.
Project Manager, US District Courthouse, Hammond, IN (1996-1997, Sverdrup Facilities)
Design and construction management (DCQM) services for design review, value engineering, site demolition, and construction of the $53 million courthouse and office building.
o Facilitated the design efforts to balance conflicting functional and security requirements of the Administrative Office of the Courts, General Services Administration, and non-justice tenants.
o Developed additional services included community liaison, Partnering Sessions, project team workshops, and construction of a full-scale District Courtroom mockup.
Project Executive, Harold Washington Social Security Center HVAC Upgrade, Chicago (1995-1996, Sverdrup Facilities)
Construction quality management (CQM) services for a $20 million retrofit of HVAC and energy management control systems in the occupied 10-story office building.
o Developed and managed the on-site team comprised of new-transfer PM, new-hire PE, and MBE subcontractor inspectors.
Project Manager, 536 S. Clark Renovations, Chicago (1992-1996, Sverdrup Facilities)
Construction quality management (CQM) services for $28 million renovation included new mechanical, electrical, and BAS infrastructure, new elevators, and exterior restoration for the 70-year-old 10-story building, plus tenant build-out for Treasury, INS, FPS, and GSA.
o Success led to following projects for high-security 8th floor laboratories and offices for DEA and new labs and offices for the Public Health Service, adding $12 million.
