To Whom It May Concern:
I am seeking a position in your construction department as a construction manager or carpenter where I can
use my leadership skills and experience. My name is Gary Winger, a carpenter by trade, who started as a
union apprentice. As my resume reflects, I have already worked for KBR as a carpenter and carpenter
foreman, in Afghanistan and Iraq for a period of two years. I am well adapted to the austere living and
working conditions. Upon returning home I have been working as a General Contractor who supervises
numerous building trades in the southern California area.
I do wish to reiterate that I possess a successful background in carpentry and construction and have a
history of reliable service which would make me well-suited for your employment opportunity.
I would like to thank you for the time and consideration you spend reviewing my qualifications.
If I can answer any further questions, please feel free to contact me.
Sincerely, Thank You
Gary Winger

MEMORANDUM FOR RECORD
SUBJECT: Letter of Recommendation For Gary
05 February 2005
DEPARTMENT OF THE ARMY Alpha Company, Task Force 2-5 InfantryFOB Anaconda, Khas Oruzgun, Afghanistan
1.
Gary Winger worked as the sole carpenter of Forward Operating Base (FOB) Anaconda, Khas Oruzgun, Afghanistan from October 2004 to February 2005. He is directly responsible for the construction of numerous projects including a mess facility expansion, a shower and laundry facility, a morale, welfare and recreation center, a gym, a planning bay, and several Tier III tent improvements. His work has been flawless and has withheld the demands of daily soldier use and months of snow and freezing temperatures. Gary is a team player and an unassuming leader. His relentless work ethic and easy going personality led to progress not just in wood working projects but in gaining the necessary parts for plumbing and electrical work as well. Gary is a favorite of the soldiers and will be sorely missed. He will make a good friend and talented foreman for any organization that seeks his employment. I give my highest recommendation to Gary for future employment in carpentry or any other related field he chooses to pursue.
