MILITARY EXPERIENCE
U.S. Navy Lieutenant, Surface Warfare Officer May 1999 – March 2004
Division Officer, Force Protection Officer, Public Affairs Officer, and Midshipmen Training Officer Responsible for the safety, habitability, training, and operation of a 28 and 21 person division on the destroyers USS MASON and USS KINKAID. Directly supervised the employment, operation and maintenance of $35 Million in software and equipment. Managed, designed and implemented an original training plan for 30 future officers. Accomplishments include:
• Qualified as Officer of the Deck Underway and became the Commanding Officer’s direct representative to manage a bridge watch and navigation team. Duties included the safe navigation of a billon dollar destroyer, execution of the ship’s daily schedule and knowledge of engineering casualty procedures and helicopter operations. Responsible for the lives of 320 crewmembers.
• One of two officers from a total of 32 potential candidates to receive the Navy Achievement Medal.
