Professional Experience
July 1998- July 1999- Watts-Up Electric
Residential/Light Commercial electrical installations. Projects included 2 nursing home additions/renovations and an addition to a small hospital.
July 1999- May 2006- Hemenway Electric
Residential/Commercial/Industrial. Projects included all phases of electrical installation, maintenance, and repair. Routinely worked in industrial environments (machine shops, factories, garages, etc.) with 3 phase motors and controls, bending all types of conduit in sizes up to 4â€. Wiring of transformers and 480V busbars. Gained experience troubleshooting and working PVC, EMT, and rigid conduits, motor control circuitry, high voltage situations.
Also performed ongoing installations, renovations and repairs (lights, receptacles, etc.) at a medium sized hospital. Installed security card reading system as well as data and phone drops in various locations. Gained experience working in patient care, emergency, X-ray, and operating areas, hospital grade equipment, terminating Cat.5 cable punchdowns.
Performed new installations in gas stations for the dispensing system (underground conduit, pumps, canopy). Gained experience working with rigid conduit (bending, threading, etc), explosion-proof fittings and seals, veeder-root systems, and other intrinsically safe wiring.
Worked with the town municipal crew performing installation, maintenance, and repairs of pump stations that controlled the water supply, and also maintaining the street lights and traffic lights.
Worked with state transportation agency to maintain the airport beacons. Periodically replaced bulbs, disconnects, fuses and other equipment located on the beacons. Gained experience climbing poles and working with a harness belt sometimes 40-60 feet in the air. Also responsible for clearing small trees and debris off the supply lines to the beacons.
Performed fire alarm system inspections and tests in numerous buildings. Responsible for testing and repairing each device in the fire alarm circuit, including smoke detectors, heat detectors, horns, strobes, door holders, pull stations, and all equipment inside the fire alarm cabinet.
Hemenway also gave me experience installing and maintaining house generators, both manual and automatic start. These were sometimes whole house generators and other times a generator subpanel was needed. Familiar with many different transfer switches and generator kits.
I was also responsible for training apprentices, paperwork, stocking work van, performing light maintenance on work van, and responding to emergency calls.
May 2006 - April 2009- Coastal Contractors, Inc.
Residential Installations
Worked primarily with independent contractors on new houses and renovations. Also worked with a construction company on the building of new houses on private lots and subdivisions. Experience in wiring services (mast and cable), new, open-studded houses and renovating old houses, fishing wires, generator installations, swimming pool pumps and controls, low voltage, home theater audio/video wiring and components, data and communications wiring. Also wired a number of high end custom houses with Coastal.
