Work History
Group VI Construction – Peachtree City, GA 2006 – 2009
My position as Senior Project Manager led me to manage a variety of projects. The projects were primarily medical office buildings and general office buildings with some light industrial work as well. The primarily vehicle for these projects was the design build process. As Senior Project Manager, I was instrumental in the design build process from the early stages until project completion. I worked heavily with pre-construction, estimating, and design professionals to assure project success. Project sizes at Group VI ranged from $1,500,000 to $7,000,000.
Pellicano Company – Albany, GA 2003 – 2006
My position as Project Manager at Pellicano included the responsibility to estimate all projects that I may be potentially running. Pellicano combined the roles of estimating and project management. We depended heavily on design build projects for our business and Client Negotiation was a primary concern. The majority of our projects were cost plus with a fixed fee and guaranteed maximum price. This allowed us more flexibility to meet client’s needs while keeping the project in budget and on track for timely completion. Included in these projects were church facilities, daycare facilities, auto dealerships, and hotels. Project values ranged from $1,000,000 to $8,000,000.
Meybohm & Associates – Augusta, GA 1997 – 2003
I began at Meybohm as an Estimator and worked quickly into Project Management. My primary responsibility was to estimate negotiated work and oversee the most cost effective way to complete the work. The primary type of projects we completed were hotels, however I also design built a Fire Station Headquarters, a Conference Center, and office buildings. Project sizes ranged from $1,500,000 to $7,000,000.
Winter Construction – Tampa Florida Office 1996 - 1997
I started with Winter as a Project Engineer and also moved into Project Management. I estimated and oversaw the estimation, negotiation, and construction of hotel projects and some municipal school work. It became apparent that the Tampa Office was going to be closed and I moved the family to Georgia. Most of the projects were completed from the office in Orlando or the main office in Atlanta. Project sizes were primarily in the $2,500,000 to $4,500,000 range at this branch.
David L. Wallace & Associates Architects – Memphis TN / Dunedin FL 1990 – 1996
I began working with DLW as a draftsman while finishing college. I relocated as drawing production manager and project engineer into a new office in Florida. Our primary market was hotel/motel design and construction oversight. During my time [at] DLW, I was involved in the design of over 30 hotels and motels throughout the US and in Central America. The projects ranged from small 2 story motels to 10 story high-rise hotels. My responsibilities on these projects would include managing construction drawing production, meeting franchise requirements, inspecting construction on site, and reviewing pay applications, and aiding in preliminary design.
Mississippi Hardwood Cabinets – Coldwater MS 1985 – 1988
President – Owner I left my initial college to run the family business due to my fathers failing health. Having grown up in the business and construction, I ran the business and protected the investment my family had. I instantly became general manager, head of sales, and even maintenance supervisor. Being a small family business, I adapted to as many tasks as needed. The experiences through this time were many and very valuable. We sold the business in 1989 and I returned to school. I had approximately 50 employees and a 40,000 sf manufacturing facility. Our primary business was to manufacture, market, and install case goods in multi family dwellings. I had field crews and factory staff.
