Oct 07 - Mar 09 Electrotech (Reno, NV): I was involved in the construction of a machine shop that made seismic isolation bushings. This was a design build job, and had several extras including 200' of bus duct. When completed I was sent to a smart house job where I was put in charge of all low voltage systems. These systems included HVAC, access control, blind control, lighting control, and fire alarm. All systems communicated with each other via to central processors. When completed I was let go due to lack of work.
May 07 - Aug 07 High Sierra Painting (Sparks, NV): My responsibilities were to find and estimate paint jobs, and develop relationships with new contractors to generate sales. I was hired by the owner because of the relationship we had developed and he wanted me to bring this to his company unfortunately the production manager did not feel the same and I was let go. I was told I was not the right fit for the team.
Nov 05 - May 07 Home Depot (Reno, NV): I was hired to bring some trade experience to the contractors’ desk. I was responsible for maintaining and generating sales to contractors. I was #1 in sales on the west coast for the first quarter of 2006, logging 1.5 million in sales in 9 months. I was promoted to supervisor of the contractor desk in mid 06'. My desk soon rose to the top, where two of my sales associates ranked in the top 10 on the west coast. I was hired away by one of my customers.
May 05 - Sep 05 Intermountain Electric (Reno, NV): I was brought on to complete submittals on the Washoe Medical Center tower. I was responsible for submitting on every piece of material to be used on the job. I was let go when submittals were complete and approved.
Aug 04 - May 05 RC Electric (Reno, NV): Hired as lead electrician on a housing project I was responsible for running a crew. My crew roughed in 2-3 houses/wk and trimmed out at least 1/wk. I found a better job at Intermountain Electric.
Nov 03 - Aug 04 Self Employed (Reno, NV): I worked as a handy man doing small tenant improvements. My largest job was the complete renovation of the Virginia City Motel. This was a complete rewire, and included a permanent residence with attached laundry areas for motel residence. I was responsible for coordinating with the power company for a new transformer mount and the historical society for historical accuracy on all electrical fixtures.
1986 - 2003 Quality Control Systems (Reno, NV) This is my fathers company and where I received most of my training and experience. We had maintenance contracts with Sierra Pacific Power, Carson City Schools, State Building and Grounds, and University of Nevada Reno, where we were responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting any variety of problems. I dealt with mechanical systems on a regular basis with 480v pumps and motors, with a large majority having VFD's. We also installed and maintained DDC control systems, energy mgt. systems, access controls, facility mgt. systems, and lighting control systems. I gained experience with phase harmonics and installed systems on the state buildings that filtered out unused frequencies prior to the electrical meter. I spent approximately three years drawing and designing all systems installed by Quality Controls at that time. I was responsible for all as-builts and O & M Manuals delivered to customers, and did this on Auto CAD 14. I left Quality Controls because I just could not work with my family any longer, my father employs 12 family members.
