He was the principal manager for the 113-acre, over 1 million square foot power shopping center at the Crossing at Corona (the largest shopping center in Riverside County), and for the Park West Shopping Center at Stockton, and for 5 of the 6 major buildings at the San Jose Market Center at San Jose, including Marshalls, Cost Plus, Michaels, PetSmart & Office Depot, and for 7 major buildings at Grand Plaza at San Marcos, CA. Gang was also in charge of many tenant projects and is very familiar with their prototypes, including Ross, dd Discount stores, Michaels, PetSmart, Sportsmart, Sports Chalet, Staples, Office Depot, Walgreens, Pier 1 Imports, Marshalls, Cost Plus, Famous Footwear, Aaron Brothers, Starbucks, etc.

Gang Chen was the principal Project Manager for Lucky 478, Hawthorne. A 71,189 s.f. prototypical supermarket, with Deli, Bakery, Dairy, Grocery, Produce, Meat Sales, Photo, General Sales, Floral and Drive-Thru Pharmacy. His duties included: develop the whole design development and construction documents package, set up the framework for the project, assign job task and supervise staff, coordinate Civil, Structural, Electrical, Mechanical, Plumbing, and Refrigeration consultants, answer questions in pre-bid meeting, process RFI and shop drawings, field observation and field visit reports, certify payment and process change order requests, etc. Gang Chen was also the primary Project Manager for Lucky 676, Huntington Beach, Lucky 656, Laguna Niguel and Lucky 451, Huntington Beach, Albertsons 6534, Orange, Sav-On 9510, Westminster. Gang Chen was responsible of the full package of Design development and Construction Drawings and Coordinating Consultants for these projects.

Industrial Projects: Koll Plantation, City of Industrial, a 3,203,838 s.f., and 14 tilt-up building complexes on 73.55 acres. Gang was the principal Project Manager in charge of the DAB and CD packages. Responsibilities include establishing and meeting project schedules and budgets, setting up the frameworks for the project, ADA, UBC and Title-24 compliance, quality control, etc. Gang was also the primary Project Manager for Oberthur Smart Cards, USA, Inc. (Kirk Plastic), and a 106,715 s.f. tenant improvement for an existing tilt-up building. Residential Projects: Kaufman & Broad homes (standard plans & options).
June, 1996 to May, 1997: Project Manager/Job Captain, Wimberly Allison Tong and Goo (WATG), F+A Architects, Inc. & API Consultants.
Hospitality Projects: Sands Hotel/Casino, Las Vegas, a major project that includes two new hotel towers totaling 6,000 keys, and two casinos, over 200,000 s.f. of retail space, a roof garden with a health and fitness center and a wedding chapel, two theaters, interior canals with gondolas, and over one million square feet of exhibition space. The architectural character incorporates both classic Italianate design and 14th-16th century Venice, completes with replicas of the famous Doges Palace, Campanile and Rialto Bridge. The total construction cost for this project is 1.3 billion dollars. Gang Chen was also the principal Project Manager for Las Casuelas Restaurant, Palm Springs.
Educational Projects: "Space Saver" Intermediate School, Santa Ana, CA, an 116,000 s.f. state-of the-art multi-story fundamental school for 1,300 students on 11 acres, built partially over a new 250-space parking garage constructed for use by an adjacent shopping center.
The construction cost for this project was 22 million dollars. This project won the AIA design award. Other educational projects include: Modernization of five schools for
Sacramento Unified School District, Modernization of ten schools for Artesia Unified School District, Modernization of Arminta School for Los Angeles Unified School District, etc.
Healthcare Projects: Hoag Health Center, Costa Mesa; Kaiser Permanente, including Claims and Referrals, Pasadena; Genetic Testing Laboratory, Los Angeles; Parsons, Pasadena; Specimen Processing Laboratory, Los Angeles, etc.

Telecommunication Projects: about sixty AirTouch Cellular projects, including all three prototypes: a prefabricated ACP building and a monopole, underground vaults and roof top penthouses. Healthcare Projects: LAC+USC, a 2.4 million-square-foot replacement healthcare project for the Los Angeles County and University of Southern California (LAC+USC), include an eighteen-story main hospital tower, an outpatient department and a diagnosis and treatment department. The construction cost for this project was 1.2 billion dollars, and the final package contains 3,600 sheets of construction drawings. Naval Air Station, Lemoore, California; this project was published extensively in Architecture, Design Journal, Architectural Record and Los Angeles Times and Orange County Register. Mr. Chen's other healthcare projects include: Veteran Administration Hospital, City of Sepulveda.

Urban Design/Streetscape: Fremont Street Experience, Las Vegas, a huge space frame covered part of the Fremont Street, with people mover, and six surrounding buildings. This project was published in Architecture, April 1996.
