EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Results-driven Director of Retail Architecture and Store Planning. Experienced in directing a team of landlords, developers, architects, designers, store planners, construction project managers and merchants in the development of new store and remodel retail projects from conception to opening day of business. Focused on adopting new technologies and innovative ideas to realize company savings and promote corporate responsibility profile. A proven problem solver by getting the most out of team skills and developing streamlined processes. Successful under pressure and across all levels of corporate management and disciplines. A straightforward, clear and concise communicator with a common-sense, keep-it-simple approach.
Accomplishments:
• Reduced individual store utility usage by 30% by changing the Linens 'N Things prototypical design, construction documentation and construction processes to include “green†and “sustainable design†materials and systems. Directed the construction of two new stores incorporating these criteria resulting in an average 30% reduction in utility use over a one year period. The LNT New Store Prototype is set to receive Silver Certification from the United States Green Building Council.
• Saved hundreds of thousands of dollars in income taxes by redesigning the Prototypical Construction Documents and Lease Work Agreements to change the development method from Tenant built to a Landlord built construction process as dictated by a change in SEC regulations.
• Reduced construction change orders to less than one-half of one percent from an average of 6% of total project construction cost by designing and implementing a web-based project collaboration tool for the use of all Linens 'N Things new and existing store team members. Also eliminated all printing and construction document shipping costs. This tool provided instant access to construction documentation to all Linens 'N Things internal groups, external vendors, contractors and developers.
• Established the first Store Planning Department in 1996 where no department existed before. Developed the initial Linens 'N Things drawing standards, construction documentation package and scope of work lease documents and computer network for all new store projects.
