For over twenty years, I have been conceiving and implementing comprehensive management for projects ranging from Wind energy, commercial, civil, hospitals, schools, airport control towers, large box stores, roadway, governmental, military, hospitality, coal plants, restaurant/entertainment and casinos.
I am fluent in a multitude of venue specific designs and project management skills, for developers both in the United States and abroad. For two decades now my professional responsibilities have progressed from project manager to Sr. project manager and operations manager, O.A.R. during which time I have head hundreds of management projects for a multitude of clients. I have demonstrated success in the management and development of these full project life cycles, which have resulted in multi-million dollar profits for the client and their properties. Typical renovation and tenant improvement budgets range from $1 million to $3 million, and new commercial projects upwards to $260 million. I have a history of turning break even projects into profitable projects through the delivery of cost saving solutions, Alternative material specifications and simultaneously increasing design integrity. Negotiating/proposals/contracting, conceptual and hard-bid estimating, scheduling and construction management and operations.
Professional Experience:
• Managed design/build seven schools from ground up, Two Colleges from ground up. $22 million factory and $170 MM wind farm directing company employees and subcontractor personnel, with peak employees of 220 people. Prepared initial budgets and monthly cost tracking reports using Microsoft Excel. Worked with the accounting department on preparing monthly billings and approving subcontractor and supplier invoices. Prepared initial schedule and monthly updates using Microsoft project. Chaired weekly separate owner and construction meetings and prepared monthly owner reports.
• Led $17 million clean room facility project with duties as described above.
• Sr. project manager / construction Airport control tower.
• Worked with the developers in preparing budgets and schedules for pre-construction services for $60 million hotel and $75 million retail and housing project.
• Ran competitive bid senior housing project. These were HUD financed projects that involved governmental reporting and preparation of monthly billing. Managed subcontractor’s weekly meetings, budgets and schedules.
• Managed retail projects involving site development, shell construction and tenant build-out.
• Managed all company owned building construction projects new construction and remodeling to include hotels, casinos, gas stations, C-stores, and office buildings.
• Managed Build out projects for Best buy stores as an O.A.R.
• Managed ground up construction of Midwest Super Target stores
Acting as the companies O.A.R. (owners authorized representative)
• Managed clear lake wind farm $126 million project
• Sr. project manager of two homeland security border patrol stations.
1977 -1991 Wallner Companies
Construction Manager for public projects.
• Created bidding phase for a $30 million new high school campus. Prepared work descriptions for various bid packages and worked with the school district on bidding and awarding approximately 100 different contracts. The project included a new 267,000 SF new building and development of a 222 acre campus for 1,400 students. Pre-construction phase included attending building committee meetings, preparing budget estimates and schedules. During construction conducted weekly site visits and construction meetings, monthly budget and schedule updates and periodic meeting with the building committee and school board.
• On site project manager for a 10 million hospital addition and remodeling in St. Paul
• On site project manager for a 9.6 million hotel in Lansing MI.
• On site project manager for a 7 million Veterinary Medicine building.
