Michael Greenhaus is a highly motivated and determined construction engineering professional with proven leadership and team building ability. He has a rare combination of technical and managerial experience in both large corporate and entrepreneurial environments.
Over the years he has demonstrated an excellent track record of profitable management positions in both domestic and international marketplaces. Michael has expertise in Latin American and Caribbean business culture and values and is fluent in Spanish.
Prior to graduating from New York University with honors and Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering Michael was a merchant seaman and member of the National Maritime Union and worked with the Steamfitters Union Local 638 where he developed lifelong interest in hands-on work and travel.
Upon graduation Michael worked for the largest designer and builder of power plants in the world as project engineer in Texas and Louisiana and then in the contracts division of their New York headquarters. Next he worked for a regional contractor on highway and bridge construction while doing Graduate Course study in business management.
He then joined a start up company building Gas Turbine, Combined Cycle and Fossil Fuel generating plants. In ten years, working in over thirty international and domestic markets, he helped grow the company to a leading turnkey contractor in the power generation business, eventually becoming Project Executive and stockholder.
In 1979 Michael started and for over 20 years successfully managed four companies including contracting, ship repair, maritime operations and equipment leasing and rental with operations in Puerto Rico and the Caribbean. He sold his interests in these businesses and settled in Coral Gables, FL.
Michael joined one of the largest construction companies in the world as a senior project manager on the $1.5 Billion North Terminal Development Program at Miami International Airport where he managed seven contracts. He then assumed management of construction of Medical Arts Building and Parking Garage, and four renovation projects in a major medical facility. He next managed construction of a luxury twenty-nine story condominium being constructed on the site of historic beachfront hotel.
Since 2007 Michael has been working as a consultant and independent contractor. Assignments have included: Consultant and Project Executive for General Contractor in Southern California for major expansion and growth from mid-range multifamily projects to larger commercial projects; Program Management for development of historic property as four star hotel in Miami’s Art Deco District; Management of extensive hotel renovations in Florida and North Carolina.
Throughout his career Michael has demonstrated adeptness as a troubleshooter engaged to turnaround errant projects and improve efficiencies in varied organizations, with proven ability to balance schedule, budget and resources for successful outcomes in high stress environments
Michael currently resides in Coral Gables, Florida with his wife Flo, a special education teacher, and daughter Sarah.
