• Amgen, Inc.; 1.8 million sf of research & development, laboratory, vivarium, pharmaceutical, administrative offices and central utility plant in 6 major buildings on a 29 acre waterfront site in Seattle, Wa.
• Several Assisted Living Facilities and Campuses w/ dementia care wings and retirement apartments for: Merrill Gardens, SunBridge and Prestige Care from 48,000 sf to 118,000 sf through out Washington and Arizona.
• The Boeing Company; Buildings 40-25 & 40-26. 850,000 sf / 96,900,000 cf, two of the five new high bay assembly buildings for the 777 aircraft project, Everett, WA

Owner’s Rep for national & international mall developer Westfield, developed bidding criteria, solicited & qualified construction contractors, wrote contracts, supervised general contractors, utility relocation contractors, & site work contractors, interfaced & facilitated critical information between design/ engineering & field personnel, managed big box tenant build-outs such as AMC Theaters; Bed, Bath & Beyond, Borders Books, 24 Hr Fitness, and Century Theaters; plus several local restaurant tenants. PROCUREMENT MANAGER
Skanska USA Building, Inc. - Seattle, Washington: 2001 - 2004
Accountable for soliciting, qualifying, and procuring vendor & subcontractor services to construct a 1.8 million sf campus of 6 major buildings on a 29 acre site & project value of over $400 million for Amgen, Inc. Building types included administrative offices w/ full service “state of the art†commercial kitchen & dining area, 250 seat theater/ auditorium, six floors of research & development laboratories, pharmaceutical laboratories, animal vivarium bldg. that also incorporated a floor dedicated as the campus data control center, & a central utility plant. Between labor efficiencies and procurement buyout, we were able to return $50 million dollars to the owner.

Careage, Inc. – Seattle, Washington & Panco Construction, Inc. – Spokane, WA: 1997 - 2000
Responsible for construction of several new assisted living facilities w/ commercial kitchens in Bellevue, Wa., Apache Junction, Az., Green Valley, Az., & Sierra Vista, Az. Delivered the Bellevue project two months ahead of schedule saving the owners $100k in interim financing interest costs. The Apache Junction job was done on schedule despite major changes. Saved the owner on the Green Valley project over $35k by locating two other developers in the area to help share in the costs for a water line extension to the property, which then removed a requirement to construct an unsightly 20,000 gallon above ground, fire water storage tank.
PURCHASING MANAGER
The Austin Company – Boeing Everett Task Force; Everett, WA: 1991 - 1996
Primary administrator responsible for procurement & contract administration on Boeing’s 40-25 & 40-26 plants, designed for the manufacture and assembly of the new 777 aircraft. A $400 million dollar project, on which I was directly accountable for more than twenty-five subcontractors & vendors, with a total subcontract & purchase order value exceeding $50 million. Negotiated & wrote change orders in excess of $10 million dollars. The last 2 yrs with Austin I was the administrator for all of the cafeteria remodel and retro-fits at the Everett Assembly Plant.

Heritage Construction – Everett, Washington: 1994
Managed the Leota Jr. High School addition & remodel of the gymnasium and kitchen/ cafeteria area; a public works project with a construction budget of $4 million dollars. Convinced the owner & architect to accept several cost saving alternatives after contract award & proposed ultimate compromise to unrealistic building schedule that avoided liquidated damages litigation.

While working for this predominately TI General Contractor, I successfully negotiated contracts worth over $750,000 in new gross sales by marketing three new clients of the firm. Pin-pointed method for defining new clients & generated over a dozen new customer contacts for the firm.

Hickel Investment Co. – Anchorage, AK: 1985 - 1986
Directed several general contractors in the construction of over $27 million in new & remodel capital improvement construction projects. Achievements included completion of a new $10 million shopping mall; a $12 million addition & modernization of the corporation’s principal shopping mall including new food court; directed construction of earthwork and utilities contractors on new 120 lot subdivision.
ASSISTANT SUPERINTENDENT
Century Construction – Anchorage, AK: 1982 - 1984
Supervised subcontractors, managed quality control, initiated design clarification/variation requests to the design team. Coordinated preparation of submittal requirements, forecasted project expenses, & orchestrated final inspections & project close-outs. Promoted from Field Engineer after 6 months with company. Major projects: $20 million Jr. High School and $2.5 million Cook Inlet Pre-Trial jail facility addition.

Banks Construction, Inc. - Anchorage, AK: 1978 - 1981
Specialized in commercial wood framing projects, however, the firm did several remodel/ tenant improvement projects including a couple of doctor’s clinics, FedAlaska Credit Union’s 1ST floor teller and administrative office areas, and a fish processing plant and airplane hangar in remote Alaskan villages. Gained valuable experience in understanding the complexities of running a construction business including making a payroll on a regular basis.

Put myself through college with the help of my best friend’s father who owned a general contracting firm in Anchorage, AK. Learned how to build concrete forms, wood frame, and do some finish carpentry.
