Difficult and complex projects are the work in which Michael has been successfully involved throughout his career as a project, programme and schedule manager. Michael has a complete understanding of all aspects of development, from feasibility to post practical completion. Recognised when the company he established and managed was purchased by Arcadis-AYH in 2000.

Recent Professional Experience
• Whilst working for Arcadis, responsible for and controlled the Isle of Capri (an American company) works in the United Kingdom between 2003 and 2006. The commission covered all aspects of working within the developing, complex resort casino legislation proposed by the British government at that time. Included identification and appointment of the consultants with the ability to provide the needed skills, establishment of realistic strategies, cost plans and timescales. Advised the client and set up mechanisms for monitoring, controlling and reporting progress to the client. Highlighted projected risk areas and made recommendations for solutions to ensure completion within budget and time. The projects include Coventry casino which was successfully opened in July 2007 and the submission of detailed planning application for other UK developments (Hull, Edinburgh and Newcastle).
• In America built new resort developments in Waterloo and Pompano and oversaw refurbishment of Biloxi resort for IOC which successfully recovered over $250m in insurance claims following Katrina.
• Led team in Pittsburgh to submit licence for $750m resort complex.
• Worked on Hotel developments for Marriott International and two European operators proposing new hotel developments projects in America undertaking feasibility value engineering and constructability exercises.

Projects in America
• Marriott International:
o Provided and supervised cost management staff to assist Marriott in refining their costing approach to new projects resulting in a more robust cost model on which Marriott base their initial estimates.
o Undertook successful Value Engineering exercise resulting in over 100 actions to refine the design on new hotel brand which was just about to be procured.
o Proactive Constructability reviews on Marriott projects in USA resulting in change of direction for design team.
• Chevron:
o Undertook detailed Project control exercise on a complex project in East Providence, RI. Brought together the complicated remediation of an existing toxic site owned by the client. Involved the integration of permitting, funding and city legislation and the phased development of a shoreline complex of condo and retail space. The objective to indentify and communicate the process and then monitor and reporting to the multi-headed client body was judged a success. All consultants expressed their appreciation for expressing the process in clear and concise terms.
• Isle of Capri
o Pittsburgh: Headed up the IOC bid for a casino resort Licence value $750M. Brought to USA by IOC to manage the strategy and detail design of a proposed new resort complex licence being bid by IOC. Involved in forming strategy, appointing consultants, briefing, cost management of overall budget and time management. Responsible for directing the design team to submitting a proposal which resulted in the client being select for the final three applicants.
• Isle of Capri continues
o Waterloo. Provided Project & cost management services to a $66m new casino on green field site. Involved assessing original cost parameters and advising on outturn costs of proposed client changes on Casino, Hotel and Spa which was successfully completed in July 2007
o Pompano: Commissioned during construction of new casino in Florida to provide detailed cost management advice. Resulted in correct projections of outturn cost and time scales for the client enabling correct funding levels to be put in place. Additionally provided project management detailed input on change order being submitted by the contractor. Project completed April 2007
o Biloxi: Project management, scheduling and cost control on rebuilding of casino, hotel following hurricane in 2005. Headed up a team of twelve consultants working on clients insurance claims following hurricane Katrina in August 2005.Our team were successfully in assisting the IOC to recover over $250m from their insurance companies.
