Medical Science Building, North Lake College, Irving, Texas 2007-2008
Project Superintendent, two story 24,000 square foot addition to an existing science Building. Required taking off the entire side of the existing building while building was continuously occupied. Project included new chillers and cooling tower rehabilitation in central plant. Water line loop over 3000’ was extended in and increased to an 8†line. New 8†fire line over 2000’ across active parking lots, to central plant. Total $12M
Lone Star Park, Horse Race Track, Grand Prairie, Texas 1997-1998
General Superintendent for joint-venture partner on the construction of a world-class horse racing facility. Direct responsibility for all earthwork, underground utilities, streets, parking lot paving. Construction of 26 horse barns. The veterinarian hospital, maintenance buildings and track administration bldg. Total $70M.
Corporate Offices for GAINSCO Insurance, Fort Worth, Texas 1989-1990
Worked as a free-lance project manager with GAINSCO insurance company. GAINSCO bought and renovating a 1920’s eight story-parking garage into corporate headquarters. Added a new ninth floor, most of the garage was maintained for parking. Did all due diligence for purchase of the property, hired A/E design team and consultants. Did VE to get cost down $.5M. Total $2.4M
New Press Box and Private Club at Fenway Park, Boston, MA. 1988-1989
Project Manager for improvements and additions to venerable Fenway Park. New press box, owner’s box and private club all directly behind home plate. Press Box and shell structure were complete for opening day, 1989. Private club provided seating for 600, several bars and a bar/ grill, two specialty restaurants in the space below the seating are. Project also included new stairs, elevators and escalators for the club. $60M.
125 Clarendon Street, Boston, Massachusetts 1987-1988
Nine-story residential condominium building at corner of Columbus and Clarendon in Boston’s Back Bay. Building’s exterior designed to blend into the neighborhood of historic townhouses. Original bids for underground parking and building foundation exceeded entire budget for entire project. Personally investigated value-engineering options and discovered solutions for a large part of the problem, getting the cost down from $4M over budget to $1M over allowing the project to proceed. Total $7.8M.
500 Crown Colony, Quincy Massachusetts 1986-1987
On-site project manager for five-story 125,000 square foot office building, first building on large Office Park located on the site of a former granite quarry. Developer self-performed construction. Bought out project for $700,000 less than was budgeted. Total $8M.
Caravan of Dreams, Fort Worth, Texas 1982-1984
Complete new four-story concrete and steel structure including a basement and tunnel to remote location for HVAC chillers. Original 1890’s storefronts were suspended on steel buttresses until the construction progressed to the point where they could be connected to and supported by the new structure. Building was completed in 24 months to allow cost to be eligible for a Federal Tax Credit Program. Total $25M
Sundance Square, Fort Worth, TX 1979 to 1982
Renovation of a three-square block private urban redevelopment project, Sundance Square, owned by Fort Worth’s Bass brothers, one of whom came to the site almost daily to give directions. The project included seventeen different buildings, several of which had historic designations and were restored. Some were renovated or simply torn down and rebuilt.
