After nearly five successful years working for Hallmark Home Builders as a lead residential construction superintendent, I was laid-off from my position due to a lack of work for the company. Basically, the company ceased operating as a multi-employee operation and terminated all employees except for the office secretary and the owner. I believe that my rise to success with Hallmark is the best proof of my capabilities. I was hired as a punch list and warranty specialist with no experience in the field. However, within two years, I was promoted to their Lead Superintendent, replacing someone who had over fifteen years of experience in the industry.
Since being laid-off, I have been working as a shop manager for an auto body repair and paint shop in order to provide for my family. Actually, the job is very similar to my job as a construction superintendent except that I am dealing with cars instead of houses. I work on estimates, order parts, assign work to laborers, and I inspect all finished products for quality assurance. Unfortunately, I still truly miss my job in the construction industry, and I am hopeful that I will be able to obtain a new construction job in the near future.
I would really appreciate it if you would take a minute from your busy schedule and review my attached resume. It is my belief that I am the ideal candidate to help contribute to the success of your company in the years to come. From my service in the National Guard, to my time with Koontz Paint and Body, Hallmark Home Builders, and Ukrop's Supermarkets, I have nearly fifteen years of experience in estimating, management, superior customer service, and carrying out complex projects from start to finish.
I am a team player and a motivated self-starter who is not afraid to get his hands dirty. I work well under pressure, and I understand the necessity of doing whatever it takes to meet deadlines in the construction business. I am a family man with two very young daughters and a lot of obligations to fulfill. If given the opportunity, I assure you that you will not find a more loyal and motivated worker. I take great pride in my work and craftsmanship, and I am very passionate about what I do.
I can be reached anytime, and I am hopeful that you might wish to meet me sometime soon for a face-to-face meeting. I thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,
Stephen Humphreys
