Meet any and all of your survey needs above and beyond your greatest expectations.
Age: 55
Marital status: Married
Position applied for: Party Chief / Head Surveyor
Objective: Application for a survey position.
Summary:
I am a head surveyor with over 29 years of survey experience. I have done numerous large industrial construction projects, mine expansions, oil exploration work involving State Plane Coordinate Surveys, gas plant expansions, and 7 years underground survey at a hard rock mine. I surveyed lines on State Plane Coordinates in every mountain range west of the Mississippi, the swamps of the deep south, and up along the U.S. side of the Canadian border. I have experienced surveying rugged terraine in extreme weather conditions, bug and snake infested territories and remote areas. We worked out of helicopters in thick mountainous forests, deep snow, hot deserts and swamps. Much of our work was done on snow shoes in the winter. Jobs in the swamps were worked out of airboats. I have run Solar, Plate Angle, and Magnetic traverses. I started out running an Alidade, then a Transit, then a Theodolite, then a Total Station, then a semi robotic and a totally robotic Total Station and a Cavity Monitoring system. I am well versed with Autocad 14 thru 2008, TDS, Geodimeter, Sokkia, and Promine Software as well as a HP48GX Calculator. I am very precise and particular about my surveying techniques. I am highly motivated and would enjoy any challenges including foreign opportunities. I am confident I could meet any and all of your surveying expectations and needs. I hope to hear from you soon if you are in need of a surveyor with a vast range of experience.
Objective:
Apply my experience and expertise as a surface or underground surveyor to fulfill your technical needs in mining and construction survey. I have a Geodimeter 4400 Robotic Total Station, two 48GX
Calculators and TDS Software. I prefer using Autocad to plan and execute my survey calcs but am capable of calcing everything long hand if need be.
Work Experience:
I am currently the head surveyor on a peaker power plant job north of Culbertson, MT. for TIC. Four months ago I finished a Flue Gas Desulfurization project at Dave Johnston Power Plant in Glenrock, WY. for TIC where Kiewit was involved in the joint venture. In 2007 I was the head surveyor on a construction site near Wright, Wyoming for TIC. We installed a truck dump, a crusher, a 2 mile conveyor, drive units, bent legs and the head house on the silos. I was responsible for layout of the excavations, the pile, the form corners, the bolts, the sleepers, the pipe and all top of concrete corners, elevations, and bolts. Before that I finished the layout and construction of an Ethanol Plant in Fairmont, Minnesota for TIC; the expansion on a gas plant at Opal for TIC; a turbine driven power plant in Groton, South Dakota for TIC; an expansion at the Suncor Gas Plant in Thornton, Colorado for TIC; and an ExxonMobil AGI project out of Kemmerer, Wyoming for TIC. I worked underground as a head surveyor at Stillwater Mine in Nye, Montana for 7 years. I did a 400 million dollar expansion on the surface of Stillwater Mine for TIC before going underground. Before that I was a contract surveyor that set 25 miles of 4 legged powerline towers for Berkana Drilling. This was a Western Area Power Association powerline done for the Bureau of Reclamation over rugged terraine into Cortes and Seminoe Reservoirs north of Rawlins, Wyoming. The foundations were structured for 7 different types of towers with limitation on reveal and batter. Specifications required a 1/8†tolerance. When the lines took a bend, the towers were rotated ½ the angle. I used my Sokkia TM6 and Red 1A to do this job. Each hole was battered. I set the starting points for the drills and then set the location, batter and twist of each stub angle. I did all the construction surveying on a 7 mile continuous belt conveyor at Coteau Coal Mine in Beulah, N.D. for TIC. I set 3000 sleepers on curve and I set foundations for bridges, hoppers and bent legs. I used a Wilde TC1600 to do this job. I spent 16 years flying into remote areas of the USA by helicopter working every mountain range west of the Mississippi for a number of oil exploration crews. I started out using an Alidade and a plane table, then K & E and Standard Transits. We progressed to Theodolites with top mount EDMs then Total Station Theodolites. I also had an older Magellan GPS I used at times to establish control. We were required to locate USGS or US Coast and Geodetic triangulation stations to start and close our traverses. Most surveys were required to close within 1:250,000. We did a lot of plate angle and solar traversing. Calculations and data collections were done with an HP41 and an HP48GX calculator and IBM compatible computers. I owned a TM6, a Red 1A, a Wild T-0, and a Set 3BII survey instrument. Now I own a Geodimeter 4400 Robotic Total Station. I also spent 2 years working for an engineering firm in Salt Lake City as an instrumentman. I worked with an L.S. on an 18 mile pipeline in Provo, Utah. We marked the excavations and then put monuments on each PI, PC, and PT after the pipe was buried. We also located section corners marking them for aerial targets on the West Desert Pumping Project. Boundary and A.L.T.A. surveys were another scope of our work there. They paid for classes I took at Utah Tech in beginning and advanced surveying.
