Plumbing leaking drains, stopped up toilets, repairs to sprinkler system. HVAC system changing filters on air handlers, rodding cold water units, adjusting temperature, cleaning of cooling tower. Raising and lowering flags and clean up of grounds.
Tandy Software: 1982 – 1985 Maintenance Electrician. Maintain electrical systems for building and machinery used in making software and computers. Installing new electrical installations for offices, new break room with multiple outlets and lighting fixtures under Journeyman’s instruction. Helped in the plumbing of new rest rooms and new break room. Measured and ordered materials to build new offices. Performed framing, dry wall, electrical, plumbing and painting.
City of Fort Worth: 1985 – 1991 Chain Handler, Survey section. Accurately measuring distances, staking layout for road construction, water and sewer and storm drain construction by using Theodolite, Level and various rods and measuring devices.
City of Fort Worth: 1991 – 1995 Office Assistant II, Inspection office. Answered multi-line phone systems, operated two way radios, and used customer service abilities to sometimes resolve disputes with citizens or questions from inspectors, contractors or suppliers by reading construction plans or contract documents. Preparing monthly pay estimates checking inspector calculations and typing them in proper format. Making sure estimates were signed and delivered to proper personnel. Checking time sheets for approximately fifty employees to ensure time is accurately charged to proper projects.
City of Fort Worth: 1995 – 2005 Engineering Technician I, Geotechnical Laboratory. Perform a number of tests on construction materials both in the laboratory and in the field. These tests included, field compaction tests utilizing nuclear gauge, bringing samples of materials into the laboratory for testing. Testing soils and aggregates for gradation, PI, Ph, and proctors. Checking all calculations of test reports prepared by myself and other Technicians to ensure accuracy. Typing reports for all tests performed in the laboratory and in the field and sending copies of reports to proper personnel. Checking and entering time sheets, making sure time is charged to the proper project. Tracking supplies and maintaining inventory. Calculating amount of supplies to be purchased for the next fiscal year. Evaluating all machinery and equipment to determine need of maintenance or if new purchase should be made to replace the machine. Pricing machinery for feasibility of replacement . Working with department fiscal services presenting our budget to help in preparing over all departmental budgets for new year.
Alpha Testing: 2006 – 2008 CMT Technician. Performing compaction testing of soils under slabs and as it is being backfilled into trenches with a nuclear gauge. Inspecting the placement, size, and gauge of rebar making sure it is properly formed and spaced before allowing the pouring of concrete. Testing concrete for proper slump, temperature and air content before making cylinders that will later be taken to the shop to be tested for compressive strength. Observing the drilling and placement of pier holes for support of slabs or bridges. Inspecting the rebar cages to be placed in holes. Sampling the concrete to test slump and temperature also making cylinders for compression testing. Inspecting placement of post tension cables and later their tension.
Speed Fab-Crete: July & August 2008 – QC Inspector. Checked size, type and proper rebar placement for retaining wall panels to be used by the Texas Department of Transportation in new bridge construction. Many were used in murals requiring different patterns of fractured and smooth portions to properly make a mural possibly 100 to 150 foot long by 40 to 60 foot high. Inspect the slump and temperature of the concrete to maintain specific TxDOT specifications and make cylinders to be tested for compression. Also performed pycnometer tests on both course and fine aggregates daily and weekly.
