Owner, RPM Enterprises
I created my own business as a side project while working for MSF. The original intent was to rebuild/repair vehicles. For 3 years i used this business for construction. I have worked on my own or for construction companies for over 15 years. I finished a large contract with the 'Foundation for Moral Law', located at 1 Dexter Ave. This project was a renovation of a prominent 4 story building in Montgomery, AL. It was built in the 1800's, I supervised and/or performed all the work to restore this historic building.
July / 1995 to September / 2003
Structural Steel Estimator, Marion Steel Fabrication
I worked from brake press operator, welder, handrail fabricator, structural fabricator, lead fabricator, and finally Estimator for the last 3 years. As estimator for MSF, I contacted GC's and ordered drawings for new construction. From obtaining drawings, contacting sub's for bids, reviewing addendum's, creating documentation from take-off's into briefs, meeting with the owner to set the price on our steel, and also, meeting with purchasing, detailers and project managers for awarded jobs. I attended bid meetings and post-award meetings. I attended classes for Fabtrol in Chicago, IL. I trained new estimators on take-offs, as well as educating them on estimating software. I created spreadsheets, and helped initialize project management software that they still use to this day. Marion Steel Fabrication is one of the primary manufacturer's for Glass furnace buildings and batch work.
